LVIS Rules Of The Game
This is an abbreviated 1 page summary of the common youth rules.
All games will be played as follow:
Youth 8-9 and over: 7 v 7
Youth 7-8 play: 8 v 8
All games with unlimited ‘simultaneous’ substitutions.
Duration of the game
High School Division: 2 x 22 ½ min.
Youth: 4 x 10 min.
“running clock” except last 15 seconds of the 2nd quarter and the last minute of the
game if score is within 3 goals whenever the ball is out of play.
The Ball
The ball is always in play unless the ball hits the net above the boards.
All free kicks are direct, A team has 5 seconds to take a free kick,
The defending team is required to be 15 feet away from the ball.
If the ball goes over the goal, the goalie will start the game when the ball is in
his hands. He as well has 5 seconds to release the ball.
When the ball goes out of bounds, the team will play a free kick 3 feet away
from the boards (exact spot where the ball went out. (No throw in!)
No Sliding at any time! (Except for the goalie when inside the penalty box)
The goalie cannot punt the ball at any time!
CARDS
All intentional attempts of kicking the ball high to the ceiling are automatically red card.
Blue Card: 2 Min. power play, if the opponent team scores the penalty is over.
Yellow Card: 4 Min. penalty. Which will be served in full regardless if a goal was
scored.
If a goalie gets a blue/yellow card, a field player may serve the penalty instead him.
Red Card: 5 Min. penalty. Which will be served in full regardless if a goal was scored.
The player who got the red card is ejected. After the penalty is over the team is back to
full force.
Foul language will result in a yellow card!
The second foul language offense in a game will result in a red card!
Three-line violation: The ball cannot cross all three lines in the air without touching a
player or the field. The opponents receive a free kick from the center of the 1st line.
Equipment: Shin pads covered with socks are mandatory. Cleats are NOT allowed. Only
Flats and turf shoes are permitted.
4 Goal Rule: Each player is allowed to score 4 goals per game, scoring a 5th will result in
a free kick awarded to the opposing team on your third line. (Having a wall is allowed)
Every team gets ONE time out per game (1 min)
