Biography S AURO N:

SauroN ressurrected from the ashes of former black metal bands Melech and the unholy Satyr project. Melech was the first band who started spreading the pest in the local scene back in 1992. Ludas played the drums in this band.

During Melech's existence the main guitarist and Sunless started a project called "Satyr". It was based on the music of Dark

Throne/Burzum and creating the same dark and cold atmosphere. Sunless played the drums and was responsible for the additional vomiting on this piece of blackmetal art. They only made a recording on CD-R for themselves and it was never to be released.

Because of problems with the main guitar player both bands abandoned the scene.

Nevertheless, in 1997, Sunless, Eclipse and Demster re-started the black metal tyranny again under a new name, SauroN.

Eventually (one handed drummer) Ludas joined the band. From this moment SauroN started producing furious black metal, raw and without compromise. Only one goal was set, and this was to be the most cruel, violent and fastest Black Metal band from the Netherlands.

Anno 1999, SauroN released the Christ-crushing Demo tape 'DEATH.. TYRANNY.. WAR.. BLASPHEMY'. Only 100 copies were made (Recorded and mixed at Double Noise studios Tilburg), which were received well in the European underground and a very few concerts followed. In the meantime Eclipse started slaying the 2nd guitar, besides gutpuking, to create a fuller sound.

Within eight months after the release of the first demotape SauroN entered the Double Noise studio again to record four new songs.

This resulted into a hatefilled, four track official mCD namely "TRUE HATE EMBODIMENT", which is a declaration of war to all those who belong to the human race. [Self financed release, limited to 500 copies world-wide. Mastered at Harrow Studios

(Losser, NL)].

This mCD resulted in a mini-tour with Carpathian Forest, Destroyer666 and Urn through the Netherlands (2001). Opening No

Mercy 2002, playing in Germany with Immolation, Destroyer666, Decapitated, Deranged and Soul Demise and also many words of praise in the worldwide press. Eventually a deal with USA based 'Dark Horizon Records' became a fact.

Anno 2003, debut Full-length 'UNIVERSE OF FILTH' (Recorded, mixed & mastered at Excess studios [Rotterdam, NL]) sees the darkness of this globe trough Dark Horizon Records. Releasedate: 13th of February 2003.

The release immediately resulted in an exclusive gig with Satyricon and Khold at the Groene Engel venue (NL) on the 15th of february 2003.

On the 12th of August 2003 'True Hate Embodiment' was re-released by Macabre Operetta productions from Holland on 7" vinyl. This item has new artwork and will also be limited. (333 pcs.)

In 2004 SauroN signed a new deal with Dutch 'Neurotic Records'. The second full-length 'For a Dead race' (again recorded at

Double Noise studios, Tilburg and mastered at Harrow studios, Losser NL), scheduled for release 21-10-2004, will be the

'blackest and sickest' release so far. The sound is more pure, the vocals sicker, the songs better structured and the dedication has become more audible.

In July 2004 a cover from the almighty Bathory namely 'The rite of Darkness', from the album 'The Return...' was recorded for a tribute Gatefold LP titled: ' A Tribute From the Hordes to Bathory-From the Underground...For the Underground .', to be released on Black Goat Productions later in 2005. Right now SauroN’s working on a split 7” with Fluisterwoud.

“'For a Dead Race' is a good indicator of the state of black metal in 2004/2005. …., it seems that the leading bands these days are more and more extolling the virtues of the purity of the style and have gone back to the black as it were.”

Live4metal, Frank Allain

Tight and terrifying Sauron executes eight fierce tracks in which the growth of the band as writers and mucisians is shown and which show a war machine at full strength, ready to destroy.

Rockezine

- SauroN, TRUE HATE EMBODIMENT (self financed mCD) -

“No triggers were used on this recording” is the bold statement of intent on this very professionally produced CD from this Dutch band, as if somehow signaling their purity to the cause: no cheating, gimmicks, or soft options. With four tracks of vicious, loud as fuck, nasty, hate-filled black metal slammed down your throat. The playing is tight and goes for the kill in a very convincing manner. A band ripe for signing 9 [SB]

(TERRORIZER mag. England)

To conclude, this is Black Metal we all like it most. In the meantime SAURON is preparing their next battlefact. This is very likely the best Dutch Black Metal band!

- LIVE REVIEWS –

- No Mercy 2002 01-04 (www.Quintessnce.sh)

Sauron had the honour to open this edition of No Mercy in 013, in the small area called "kleine zaal" which has a capacity of about 350 people. That capacity was used up well by the people present already on this day and when Sauron entered the stage, thick with paint, full of aggression, they started with the first tunes of "Sauron Death Squad", which is one of their older (or should I say Ancient?) songs. There wasn`t any moshpit action during their show but there was a more than reasonable response from the audience during songs as for instance "The filth that breaths". The new songs were received, pretty well and I guess the combination of multiple ice cold vocal lines, severe Darkthrone style riffing combined with more new-school up tempo blackmetal in the vein of Marduk and War is far from bad, especially live with a "ready to crush mankind" attitude and an atmosphere that completely breaths out enthusiasm. This all was especially mentionable during the newer, more variated, songs like "A Cancer Above" and "Compulsion to Kill". This first satisfying and very promising band of today ended their set with a song called "Universe turned Necropolis". High hopes for this bands new material coming out this summer. (RL)
