SECRETARIES REPORT: Minutes from February 9th Board meeting were read
by Deb and a motion was made by Steve Earl to accept the minutes as submitted and
second by Bob Briesmeister.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Current balance is 16,880.69 . Still need to deposit
registrations fees for all teams. 2 weeks the 12u rosters should be complete and then
we will look into pre registering teams for tournaments. We were unable to confirm a
Bloomington team into the Mayfly in Edina this year.
COMMISIONER’S REPORT: Steve Earl. This week a bid was awarded to
SRS for the field improvements. The cost for doing the work is 614,000.00. The walk
through for the plans is scheduled for the 2nd week in April and the work to start the first
week in August.
A focus group will be meeting the week for the Parks and Recreation’s master plan.
Field selection meeting is Wednesday March 28th . We have asked for another practice
field and another night at Dred 2. Steve will not be able to attend however Bob
Breismeister may be able to attend.
BLOOMINGTON TOURNAMENT UPDATE: 7 team have registered so far.
Brad, Mike and Dave Fritzler held a conference call regarding the tournament becoming
an ASA National qualifier. They feel that if the tournament is a qualifier we will be able
to draw a greater number of teams. This will add approximately 16 more games, 3 of
which will be played Friday night. Approximate cost would be $600.00 with umpires. A
motion was made by Dave Gustafson in favor of making the tournament ASA National
Qualifier. Second by Bob Briesmeister. Dave Fritzlar will keep us posted.
8U UPDATE : Mike Johnsrud advised that he has 5 communities including
Bloomington interested in and 8u team. They are Shakopee, Eagan, Prior Lake and
possibly Eden Prairire.
Sounds like a go and Steve Earl told him that he can use McAndrews fields located on
12th and 90th street. Also a Jamboree type play will be set for the end of the season.
The 8u’s would not be part of the Suburban league and covered under Bloomington
insurance. Discussion was made about registration fees and they will be set at $60.00
same as BAA and the girls who attended the clinics this winter and paid $25.00 will
receive a credit towards their fee. Deb will have Kathy send out registration forms. A
Motion was made by Brad to accept fees for the 8u’s and seconded by Dave
Gustafson. Thanks to Mike Johnsrud for all your work.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT REPORT: Catching clinics not very successful and
talk about maybe moving them to April after teams are picked and the girls can focus
their attention on softball. This could be a problem for Meg and Trish. Maybe set a pre
register for this.
FUNDRAISING: Herbergers has a community fundraiser. Roxanne looked into
this and date they could get was November but she will look into other dates for sooner.
This
fundraiser allows the girls to sell coupon books that they are provided with and we
would receive 5.00 profit. Cub foods concession fundraiser is a go for next year but this
year we are on a standby list. We can get bottled water from Lund’s again and will sell
for 1.00 this year at tournament. Twin’s fundraiser working at the concession stand we
would make whatever profit they make. Roxanne working on this. She will also contact
Gayle to work with donations for tournament.
SUMMER LEAGUE: 14u teams have been picked. There will be 2 teams of 12.
16u - 18 players paid and registered and a possible 19th person. We would like 2
teams. Richfield has contacted us for teams and Chaska is also interested. Possibly
two from Chaska.. Richfield does not have a 16u team and since have placed 17 girls
on their 18u team. We are tying to get an answer from them by this Friday. It was
discussed to give Chaska a yes for their girls and we will try to get a final count for 2
teams by weeks end and then teams can be notified.
12u - have 37 girls now and possibly 3 more ... for sure a 3 rd team maybe even a 4th.
Tryouts are next week March 19th - Sunday. 10u - 26 girls some of who maybe with the
8u’s.
Parents meeting is set for Thursday April 19th ..7pm Location possibly Jefferson school.
Coaches selection: 16U Fred Wroge A / B undecided ..
14U Mike Rowekamp A / Erin Boyle and Katie Blake Silver
12U interviews this week.
The Bloomington Loves it Kids clinic went well considering the snowstorm. A letter will
go out to those who contributed their time and skills.
Suburban league advised that if team decides to attend a MSF state tournament that is
scheduled for the same weekend as qualifiers they will place you as they see fit
Dennis Brandanger suggested that once the teams are selected for summer ball
coaches should reschedule games for the teams that have High school girls playing on
them. Early games will interfere with the girls on the High school teams .
The Meeting was adjourned at 8:14pm. The motion was made by Dave Gustafson and
second by Steve Earl.
Respectfully Submitted by Kellie Manning
