Online Office Hours: I have virtual office hours during which I will be at my computer
and promptly answer emails. I encourage students to interact with me during office hours
via email to clarify upcoming assignments, and get clarity on course concepts.
Occasionally, a University meeting will preempt online office hours; should this happen a
notice will be prominently displayed on the Course Web Site.
Phone Appointments: If you wish to speak with me via phone during office hours,
please send me a Blackboard message with your phone number and request that I call
you. You can also send an email at any time requesting a phone appointment outside of
regular office hours; include 3 possible dates/times and the associated phone number to
call you and I will confirm one of the options.
Method of Instruction: This course is a 100% online course utilizing the
TAMUCT Blackboard 9.1 platform: https://tamuct.blackboard.com/. Students will
access all course materials (except textbook), assignments, student-instructor and
student-student communication, activities, exams and resource links via the Course web
site. Online learning requires students to be self-disciplined, be sure you understand and
are prepared to comply with all required class assignments and deadlines.

Blackboard (Bb) Tutorial and Competency: The Blackboard Student Overview (found
under the “My Courses” tab) is RECOMMENDED for all students, given this is the new
learning management platform for TAMUCT. Effective use of Bb navigation and tools
must be demonstrated throughout the course.
Personal Computer Set-Up: When you log on for the first time this semester or
whenever you use a different computer to access Blackboard run a browser check to be
sure each computer is set up properly. Check browser and computer compatibility by
following the “Browser Check” link on the TAMUCT Blackboard logon page:

This is a CRITICAL step as these settings are important for when you take an exam or
submit an assignment. Issues with technology or your personal computer are not
allowable reasons for missing a deadline, be sure you have the correct computer
configurations and have a back-up computer available. Complying with this requirement
is part of your “Course Agreement”.

1.0 OVERVIEW:
Application of marketing activities, strategies, and techniques to business, non-business,
and service industries. Environmental influences and the marketing mix (4Ps) will be
examined. Topics covered are target marketing, strategic market planning, marketing
research, buyer behavior and international marketing.

4.0 Course Requirements
4.1 Student Profile and Course Agreement: Students should review this
Syllabus in depth and be sure they are willing to comply with all assignments, and
deadlines in this course. The course agreement requires Students to agree to these
expectations, and promise that they have the computer set-up and self-discipline needed

4.2 Exams: There will be five online exams. The test questions will be multiple
choice. Exams will be available over a 3 day period online. They will be timed and once
started, must be completed at that time. (The chapter PowerPoints, key terms, and
publisher provided self-quizzes are all useful study guides for the Exams and can
be accessed through your connect account home page under Library and Student
Resources) Exam 1 will cover chapter 1 - 4, Exam 2 will cover chapter 5 - 8, Exam 3 will
cover chapter 9 - 12, Exam 4 will cover chapter 13 – 17, Exam 5 will cover chapter 1822. Access through “Weekly Modules” Bb Menu.
4.3 Topic Discussion Forums: Three “Discussion Forums” are assigned
throughout the semester as an individual written exercise. Due dates for these
discussion forums are listed in the syllabus. Access through “Weekly Modules” Bb Menu.
4.4 Journal Entries: Three “Journal Entries” are assigned throughout the
semester as an individual written exercise. Due dates for these journal entries

4.6 Learn Smart Modules: A “Learn Smart Module” is assigned for each
chapter in the text. Due dates and grading points are listed in the syllabus.

4.7 Professional Writing and Communication Standards: Professional level
writing and communication are critical skills in the business world. This standard should
be displayed in all assignments for this class. All communications, both to the Professor
and student colleagues should be kept professional, this includes Discussion Board
postings and email correspondence. For writing assignments, all work should be
proofread, free of grammatical errors, and include proper citations.
4.8 Reading Assignments: Students will be required to read the text for this
course. Specific assignments will be given to meet the class needs.

7.0 Drop Policy:
If you discover that you need to drop this class, you must go to the Records Office and
ask for the necessary paperwork. Professors cannot drop students; this is always the
responsibility of the student. The record’s office will provide a deadline for which the form
must be returned, completed and signed. Return the signed form to the records office,
wait 24 hours, go into WarriorWeb and confirm that you are no longer enrolled. If you are
still enrolled, FOLLOW-UP with the records office immediately. You are to attend class
until the procedure is complete to avoid penalty for absence. Should you miss the
deadline or fail to follow the procedure, you will receive an F in the course.

10. 0 Tutoring
Tutoring is available to all TAMUCT students, both on-campus and online. Subjects

Library distance education services aims to make available quality assistance to
A&M-Central Texas students seeking information sources remotely by providing digital
reference, online information literacy tutorials, and digital research materials. Much of
the TAMUCT collection is available instantly from home. This includes over half of the
library's book collection, as well as approximately 25,000 electronic journals and 200

Information literacy focuses on research skills which prepare individuals to live and
work in an information-centered society. Librarians will work with students in the
development of critical reasoning, ethical use of information, and the appropriate use of
