ASHLAND BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR MEETING Monday, October 26, 2015 5:30 P.M. The Ashland Board of Education met in regular session on October 26, 2015, in the board office at 1820 Hickman Street, Ashland, KY 41101. Chairperson Frank DeMartino called the meeting to order. Order # 450 Minutes Approval Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, it was moved by Chris Clarke and seconded by David Latherow to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of September 28, 2015. Ayes: Clarke, Latherow, DeMartino Chuck Trimble, Murphy Graves Trimble addressed the board concerning the tuck pointing at Alumni gym. The contractor should be finished ahead of schedule and there should not be any change orders submitted. There will be a meeting with consultants regarding Blazer’s project. Taylor Coates, Codell spoke on the Verity (Ashland Middle School) project and what punch list items are left to finish the project. Richard Oppenheimer, Director of Student Achievement presented the Reducing Achievement Gaps Plans and the Accountability Report. Per KRS 158.649, schools and districts are required to set targets for reducing achievement gaps. ‘Achievement Gap’ refers to a substantial difference in performance on state tests between the various groups of students at each grade level. School-based decision making councils set their goals after identifying the groups then referring to targets set by KDE. These goals will be included in each school’s comprehensive school improvement plan. Teresa Conway, Director of Ashland Head Start presented the monthly PIR Report, along with updated organizational chart and Emergency Procedures Plan and Mental Health Plan. Order # 451 Action Item KETS 2016 Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, it was moved by David Latherow and seconded by Chris Clarke to approve the FY2016 KETS first offer of assistance for $25,154.00. Ayes: Clarke, Latherow, DeMartino Order # 453 Pay App #001 Alumni Gym Upon the recommendation of the superintendent, it was moved by Chris Clarke and seconded by David Latherow to approve Pay Application #001 in the amount of $65,225.70 to Olympic Construction LLC for Alumni Gym exterior renovation project.
