Paint Annapolis 2010 Prospectus (Please read prospectus entirely) About the Exhibition This juried competition is presented by Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts and the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA), with the support of our sponsors. Thirty (30) artists will be selected by the juror to compete. In addition, the juror will select 5 alternates (in order), in the event that some of the selected artists cannot participate. The city-wide plein air event will run from September 22, (Wednesday evening artists’ arrival and check-in) to September 26 (Sunday afternoon/evening Collector’s Preview and reception/awards). The juried exhibit will be on display through October 24, 2010 at Maryland Hall. Artists will paint within designated boundaries (TBA) in Annapolis on all three painting days: Thursday, September 23, Friday, September 24, and Saturday, September 25. Artists must turn in two completed, framed, and ready to hang artworks on the morning of Sunday, September 26. Work must be done during the event painting days “en plein air” without the assistance of photographs, within the painting boundaries, and within the completed, framed size limit of 36”x 42.” The sale and exhibit will be held at Maryland Hall in their two gallery spaces, and work (sold and unsold) will remain on display until the end of the exhibition, Oct. 24, 2010. Artists must pick up unsold work at the end of the exhibition, or make their own arrangements for shipping their work. Entry Instructions and Fee Artists must submit three (3) digital images of their original plein air work, completed in the past two years, plus the completed entry form listing their personal information, details about the work entered, and the appropriate application fee. Make checks payable to Maryland Hall for Creative Arts. The entry fee is $35. Please send the best possible jpeg images on CD. CD’s will not be returned. Name your file with your initials, the title (or abbreviation), number of the image, followed by the extension. Do not have jpegs larger than 2 MB. (Example: JPJpainting1.jpg and JPJpainting2.jpg). About the Judge The entry judge will be Rosalie Nadeau. Nadeau balances powerful color and generous texture with classical form. Her vibrant paintings in oil and in pastel illustrate feature articles in five books and many magazines. She has earned prestigious signature memberships in four east coast Pastel Societies. An original member of “21 in Truro”, she is a founding member of Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and Cape Cod Plein Air Painters. If I am accepted, I understand that I am expected to participate in both the plein air competition and the exhibit and sale. During the dates of the competition, I agree to not sell any work done during Paint Annapolis 2010 unless I pay 40% commission to Maryland Hall. The paintings which I exhibit must be priced with a retail price commensurate with my normal pricing structure. A 40% commission on all works sold will be retained by Maryland Hall and all sales will be handled by representatives of Maryland Hall. Images of work that I enter into the competition may be used by Maryland Hall and MAPAPA for publicity purposes.
