Roumen Balyozov Roumen Balyozov (b. 1949, Sofia) graduated from the “Pancho Vladigerov” State Academy of Music. He studied violoncello with Prof. Konstantin Popov and composition with Prof. Dimitar Tapkov. Since 1974 he has worked as a violoncellist at the Symphony Orchestra of the Bulgarian National Radio. His works have been recorded for the Bulgarian National Television, Balkanton Records, Bulgarian National Radio, Radio Bratislava, Radio Cologne and performed in many countries in Europe and America. R. Balyozov is recipient of three awards of the Union of Bulgarian Composers (1977, 1982, 1987) and the Award of Ministry of Culture and Education (1981). His works have been performed at the “New Bulgarian Music”, “Young Bulgarian Music” and “Musica Nova” festivals.
