During the reporting period, the station provided notice of all full-time vacancies
to the Virginia Association of Broadcasters, the National Association of Hispanic
Journalist, the Asian American Journalist Association, the Native American
Journalist Association and the Richmond Free Press, all of which include
substantial participation by women and minorities.

June 4, 2012 – July 27, 2012 - Virginia Association of Broadcasters Summer
Internship Program –3 college students participated in an 8 week structured
internship program in our News Department. This program offers undergraduate
training in broadcasting related programs to college juniors and seniors.

August 3, 2012 – A Meadowbrook High School Senior interested in the field of
Broadcasting and her Media teacher visited the station and shadowed our
Anchor/Sports Director for the day to learn about careers in broadcasting. Station
Personnel involved – News Anchor/Sports Director and various Production
employees.
October 3, 2012 – A News Anchor/Sports Director visited Douglas S. Freeman
High School and spoke to the students about careers in broadcasting. Station
Personnel involved – Anchor/Sports Director.
November 14, 2012 (AM) – Virginia State University 2012 Mass Comm, Sales &
Sports Management Career Expo. Attended career fair from 9am – 12 Noon.
Spoke with students about careers in broadcasting as well as providing
information on the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and their internship
program, job bank where students can list their resumes as well as search for
open jobs posted by members of the VAB. Station Personnel involved - Human
Resources Director.
November 14, 2012 (PM) – ITT Technical Institute 20112 Fall/Winter Career Fair.
Spoke with students about careers in broadcasting. Also gave out information
about the Virginia Association of Broadcasters and the services offered thru their
on-line job bank and internship program. Station Personnel involved – Human
Resources Director.
February 11, 2013 – WWBT’s VP&GM participated in the 2013 Annual Black
Executive Exchange Program at Virginia State University’s Reginald E Lewis
School of Business as a guest instructor. This program focused on career
awareness and planning and what it takes to succeed in college and in a highly
competitive marketplace. The students also were able to network with the guest
instructors about employment opportunities at WWBT. Station Personnel
involved – Vice President & General Manager.
April 16, 2013 – 2 students from Virginia State University’s Reginald F. Lewis
School of Business spent the day participating in a shadowing project at WWBT
to learn more about our business. They spent time with the VP&GM as well as in
our Sales, Production, News and Human Resources departments. Station
Personnel involved – VP & GM, Sales Manager, Traffic Manager, Research
Director, Production Manager and Human Resources Director.
May 21, 2013 – ITT Technical Institute 2013 Spring Career Fair. Spoke with
students about careers in broadcasting. Also gave out information about the
Virginia Association of Broadcasters information about careers in broadcasting
and the services offered thru the VAB’s on-line job bank and internship program.
