The Department of Political Science at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) seeks to make a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level in International Relations and Comparative Politics. With 30,000 students, IUPUI is a major urban university, and part of the Indiana University system. The Department of Political Science has 11 full-time faculty and offers a BA, an MA in state and local government, a certificate in paralegal studies, and minors in Political Science and Legal Studies. We are open to IR specialization and all comparative area specialties will be considered except Europe and Africa, which are covered by existing faculty. The successful candidate will teach introductory courses in IR and/or Comparative, along with related upper-division courses, and will also have the opportunity to teach and participate in the new International Studies BA program, as well as our MA program. Preference will be given to applicants who show strong potential for ongoing research output at the highest level; the teaching load is 3:2 for faculty who maintain an active research agenda. Candidates from less represented populations and/or individuals who have experience working in culturally diverse environments are particularly encouraged to apply. Appointments will begin in August 2007, and a Ph.D. is required prior to the start of the appointment. IUPUI is an EEO/AA employer M/F/D. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, one publication or writing sample, teaching evaluations, three academic letters of reference and, for ABD candidates, documentation of the progress made so far on your dissertation.
