MATERIALS” FOR STUDENTS…..THEY CONTINUALLY ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO RESEARCH THEIR
SCHOOLS ONLINE. THE GUIDANCE WEBSITE PROVIDES A LINK TO 100+ OHIO COLLEGES AND

COLLEGE FAIRS & WORKSHOPS
ATTENTION JUNIORS!
April 11, 2013 – Dayton Children’s Hospital will present “ Careers in Health Care: An Inside Look at Potential
Jobs in the Health Care Field”. This is a great opportunity to listen to presentations by health care
professionals, participate in small group discussion sessions and ask questions and get answers from the
health care world. This will be held at Dayton Children’s from 9 am to 1 pm and lunch is provided. Space is
limited, to reserve a spot call 1-937-641-4476 or email lewisj1@childrensdayton.org .
FUTURE COLLEGE AND MILITARY RECRUITER VISITS
Representatives will set up their table in the cafeteria during both lunches with info. about their school/military
program.

ATTENTION STUDENTS……THE MIAMI REGIONALS (MUM AND MUH) OFFER CAMPUS VISITS AT LEAST 3 DAYS
EACH WEEK, BOTH DURING THE DAY AND IN THE EVENINGS. CHECK OUT THEIR WEBSITE AT
regionals.MiamiOH.edu. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON SCHEDULING A CAMPUS VISIT TO EITHER THE
MIDDLETOWN OR HAMILTON CAMPUS.
COLLEGE INFORMATION
Bowling Green State University has provided information on various scholarship opportunities through their
school. If interested in BGSU, stop in guidance for the information!
Manchester University in North Manchester Indiana has provided a packet of information for students
interested in pursuing an education at a smaller university setting. Information is available about scheduling
visits, various programs available and athletic opportunities. Stop in guidance for all the information!
Ball State University in Muncie IN will now accept students from Preble county and various surrounding
counties at the Indiana tuition rate, you won’t pay out-of-state tuition! If interested in learning more about
this program, stop in guidance.
Purdue University – Richmond campus, has provided information about the opportunities they offer. Stop in
guidance if you are interested in this university.

LOCAL AND IN-STATE SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION
The Preble County College Club is again offering a one-time scholarship in the amount of $900.00 to a
student interested in pursuing a college degree. The scholarship is based on financial need, ACTor SAT
scores, academic achievement and extracurricular activities. Applications are available in the guidance office.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is March 8, 2013.
Charles D. Murray Memorial Scholarship. These scholarships are each in the amount of $500.00 for students
pursing education in either post secondary vocational or trade school related fields. Must be in the upper
25% of their class. Applications are available in the guidance office. Deadline to return to guidance is
March 21, 2013.
Dale F. Koons Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 available to any Preble County graduating
senior. Must show financial need and demonstrate participation is extra-curricular activities, church and
community affairs, and the qualifications that show he/she is striving to be successful. Applications in the
guidance office. Deadline to return to guidance is March 21, 2013.
Patricia C. Brubaker Excellence in English Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 available to students
who are advancing their education and have maintained a minimum B average in high school English and
English related subjects. Applications available in the guidance office. Deadline to return to guidance is
March 21, 2013.
Charles C. Friend Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 available to students interested in becoming
a public school teacher either elementary or secondary. Students applying must be ranked in the upper 25% of
their graduating class and show financial need. Must have been involved in extra-curricular activities and
have shown in interest in becoming a successful teacher. Applications available in the guidance office.
Deadline to return to guidance is March 21, 2013.
The Eaton Rotary Club is sponsoring a scholarship in the amount of $500 to a graduating senior in the top
20% of their class, who is going to an accredited institution after high school. Financial need is a basis of the
decision as are participation in extra-curricular activities and community involvement. Applications are in the
guidance office. Applications are due in the ESC from our school by March 21, 2013.
The Eaton- Preble County Chamber of Commerce Preble County Safety Council is again sponsoring a
scholarship (amount to be determined) to a graduating senior to assist with college.
Applications are in the
guidance office lit rack. Deadline to return to guidance is March 21, 2013.
Are you a leader in and out of the classroom? Do you have at a least a 3.0 GPA and you plan to a college,
university or a trade school? If so, you should apply for the Jack Cobb Leadership Award. Students who have
exemplified leadership qualities in and out of school through student government, athletics, 4-H, the arts or
civic organizations are considered for this award. Applications are available in guidance. Deadline to apply is
March 22, 2013.
The Larry A. Hart Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 is again available to students graduating in
2013 and will be pursuing a degree in either the field of Natural Resources or Law Enforcement. Stop in the
guidance office for an application….postmark deadline is March 15, 2013.
The Omicron Sigma Sorority of Eaton is offering scholarships to Preble County students. Amount has not been
announced. Turn in the applications to guidance not later than March 15, 2013. Stop at the guidance office
lit rack for an application.
Preble County Pork Festival Scholarship. This scholarship is available to graduating seniors from Preble
County only in the amount of $500.00. It is a one-time award. Students applying must be enrolled in a 2 year
or 4 year college/university and must present an acceptance letter before money is disbursed. You do not
have to be a member of 4-H or FFA or any agricultural club to qualify. Preference will be given to students
who have been involved in volunteerism with the Preble County Pork Festival. Applications are available in the
guidance office. Deadline to apply is March 30, 2013….however applications are due in our guidance office by
March 27, 2013.
The Ohio Association of Career Colleges and Schools is offering for 2013 more than 400 scholarship
opportunities…..over $1.6 million available! Logon on to www.ohiocareercolleges.org or cal 1-614-487-8180
for more information and to find out which schools participate. Packets are also available in the guidance
office. Deadline to apply for scholarships is April 15, 2013.
MCCULLOUGH HYDE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AUXILIARY NURSING SCHOLARSHIPS -two $2500 scholarships will
be awarded to applicants residing in the service area or McCullough Hyde. Requirements include: a completed
application, official transcript through 1st semester of senior year, three letters of recommendation, copy of
letter of acceptance from a school with an accredited nursing program and a personal essay. Deadline to
apply is April 1, 2013. Applications are available in the guidance office lit rack.
In 2013 BioOhio will award 4 one-time $1,250 scholarships to high school seniors in an effort to encourage
and advance bioscience-related education and career interests in Ohio. Requirements: To be considered for a
scholarship, student must live in Ohio, be a senior or senior-equivalent in good standing, and plan to pursue
bioscience-related studies in college (reference http://goo.gl/1xqdM for examples of bioscience-related
degrees). Applications are available in the guidance office and must be postmarked by March 12, 2013:
Application includes an essay, and 2 letters of recommendation. Students must be enrolling in an Ohio
college or university.
Miami Regionals (MUM & MUH) have announced a new scholarship program. New, incoming first-year
students who have an ACT score of 22 or above and a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher and have received no
other scholarship of equal of greater value from Miami University will receive an automatic, one-time
scholarship of $1, 000.00 if you apply by March 15, 2013.

GOT MILK???? America’s Milk Processors are again offering their “got milk” “Scholars Athlete Milk Mustache of
the Year” SAMMY Scholarship Award Program. Applications for this opportunity are accepted ONLINE ONLY at
sammyapplication.com until March 18, 2013. For all official rules and requirements visit this same website.
The William D. Squires Educational Foundation, Inc. is again offering 12 scholarships to students who are
going to college and have a definite financial need. Students must have a specific career goal, be highly
motivated, have good character and show academic promise with a minimum 3.2 GPA. Applications are
available at www.wmdsquiresfoundation.org. Postmark deadline is April 5, 2013.
The 2013 AES Scholarship application process is now underway! To be eligible go to
http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm and answer one of the essay questions on the site. The
scholarship of $500.00 will be awarded based on character as determined by evaluating the essays that are
submitted. Deadline for entry is October 4, 2013.
The creators of the “Student Award Search Aid” website are offering a new scholarship opportunity for
2012 graduates called the “B Davis Scholarship”. Visit the website,

The BigSun Organization is again offering scholar athletes an opportunity to earn scholarship money. All
student athletes are eligible, regardless of sport played. The scholarship is in the amount of $500 and an

CONTESTS/NOMINATIONS
Are you interested in math, science, or engineering? Want to check your potential for succeeding before you
apply for college? If so, take the NEAS+--or the National Engineering Aptitude Search+ test. This test can be
taken at Wright State University on various dates throughout the school year. Download a registration form at
www.engineering.wright.edu.
The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation is offering an opportunity to win money for college……..Write a new
profile in courage and possibly win up to $10,000.00. US high school students are invited to write an original
essay on the political courage of a US elected official in order to compete for the scholarship. For more
information on this contest, to register and to submit your essay online, go to the Profile in Courage Award

TRADE SCHOOL/TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The Dayton Electrical JATC, Local 82 IBEW has information on how to become trained as a skilled electrical
worker through their apprenticeship programs….stop in guidance for a copy of the brochure.
Information is available from the Plumbers, Pipe Fitters and MES Local Union 392 (JATC). They also offer an
apprenticeship program for students interested in learning these trades, including welding. Stop in for
information.
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
LIFEGUARDS WANTED!! The Farmersville/Jackson Township Swimming Pool is currently taking applications for
lifeguards. You must be 16 years old by May 1, 2013 and have or are completing a lifesaving certificate. You
must also have a first aid and CPR course by May 1, 2013. Apply at the Jackson Township office building. For

older who plan to attend college. Applicants must submit an essay on “Why do you want to go to college?”.
