SUMMARY
1. Assists Director and Product Managers in managing products through the New Product Development
(NPD) process from Ideation to Commercialization
2. Utilizes project management methodology and pipeline process to qualify and execute new product
introductions
3. Executes to defined goals (cycle time, $, total products, etc.) by stage
4. Follows process improvements and project management activities to decrease total time to new product
commercialization while ensuring product accuracy upon arrival
5. Contributes to the development and utilization of developed tools such as new product scorecard metrics
6. Assists in managing optimal current product assortment
7. Works with Director in defining pricing strategy of new and existing products
8. Recommends assortment and pricing of products for marketing and promotional activities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Drive and demonstrate behaviors consistent with Sales/Marketing vision and mission including the four pillars of
execution (Communication, Accountability, Knowledge and Efficiency.
Achieves New Product Revenue Targets
1. Accountable for significant new item growth in terms of $ opportunity and number of
products from any DMS channel with primary focus on retail
2. Partners with Sales & Sourcing to conceptualize, research and evaluate new product ideas
ensuring alignment with strategic plan while driving the product through the 4 stages of new
product development
Ideation:
a) Identifies new product opportunities including:
 Customer and Sales feedback
 Category gap analysis
 Competitive research
 Industry trade shows
 Vendor community
b) Determines initial product specifications
c) Develops preliminary pricing, volume and sales potential
d) Obtains “tollgate” feedback from selected team
Evaluation:
a) Refines pricing, features and specifications
b) Works directly with Sourcing to identify potential vendors and/or discover on own
c) Develops all required documents including information on competitive and financial
assessment.
d) With addition of new items, determines if change needed in current product
assortment, pricing, marketing copy, etc to ensure offering is well defined

Development:
a) Develops and drive all aspects of new product marketing plans, including item setup,
product launch and training
b) Works cross-functionally with Marketing Communications on packaging,
promotions, and sales collateral
c) Partners with PPD (Supply Chain) on forecasting, production and distribution to
optimize inventory levels, cost of goods and forecast accuracy
d) Drives new product through production by coordinating with vendor and strong
time/project management
e) Obtains all necessary product specifications/info for a successful, efficient and robust
offering to customers through utilization or development of tools (i.e. Lighthouse)
Commercialization:
a) Executes product marketing plans
b) Analyzes and track new item results
c) Produces, track and analyze metrics to improve speed to market
Management of Existing Products
1. Conducts on-going in-depth industry market and competitive analyses related to the base
business product categories
a) Identifies customer needs and buying behaviors
b) Analyzes trends and issues while partnering with Quality/Regulatory team
c) Understanding of budget/reimbursement issues, industry consolidation, demographics,
supply channels and other key issues that affect product offerings and market share
2. Recommends changes in product offerings, services, marketing approaches, etc. to remain
competitive within market share and profitability parameters
3. Responds in timely and clear manner to issues such as customer (internal and external)
product questions, product training, quality concerns and general product information
4. Partners with Sourcing in vendor relationship to maintain strong costs
5. Adjusts pricing as needed in relation to cost changes or promotional activity
Demonstrates Leadership
1. Deploys Briggs service model through key initiatives
2. Understands and demonstrates leadership of key activities
3. Leads internal Briggs functional partners to achieve results. Drives accountability throughout
the organization to achieve goals
4. Identifies and develops continuous improvement activities to maximize business results
Communicates Effectively
1. Uses best practices in communication processes. Communicates information appropriately
with all parties while sharing feedback and insight to drive improvements
2. Ability to lead by example and demonstrate succinctly to team, internal and external
customers the Briggs value proposition through a variety of communication formats
(Presentations, email, phone, in person, etc). Must demonstrate confidence in a variety of
situations at multiple levels internally and externally
3. Provides training on new and existing products across all Briggs selling platforms
4. Clearly represents all work including performance to plan, presentations, customer and
market research. Utilizes world class presentation techniques to ensure message is
understood. Understands depth and brevity balance depending on the audience and
expectation

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to move a product through the new product development process
Must be self-motivated (strong desire to achieve results), have good interpersonal skills, capable of
analyzing and solving complex new product development issues through innovative thought and
experience, as well as, through the use of project management tools
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and efficiently
Must demonstrate strategic and tactical action planning, strong business acumen, and proficient leadership
skills. Display ability to communicate effectively using a wide variety of tools and vehicles with multiple
levels of people internally and externally
Ability to understand and deduce good business practice, based on information and analysis
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
 Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or the equivalent
 Minimum 1 year in Product Management or Marketing related field with an emphasis in New Product
Development
 Healthcare industry exposure helpful
 Project management experience desired
 Demonstrated skills in achieving sales, profitability and budget targets
 Ability to effectively monitor sales performance versus plan
 Possess strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills and problem solving skills
 Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
 Ability to interface and demonstrate leadership both internally and externally
 Ability to review and analyze business trends and capitalize on the opportunities that lie within the data
 Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability
to learn other applications such as Briggs Viewer, JDE as needed in performance of duties
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures,
government regulations. Ability to write clear, concise memos, reports and business correspondence. Ability to
make effective presentations to groups -- both internally and in the market place. Personal ability to respond to
internal and external customer questions/complaints/inquiries etc. with composure, clarity, and efficiency.
Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to compute and understand financial concepts such as gross and net margins, profitability, direct and
indirect costs, and inventory investments. Ability to understand and interpret statistical information in chart or
graph form as well as numerical form. Ability to ascertain what information needs to be gathered, how it
should/can be manipulated and analyzed to reveal trends and provide a partial basis for decisions.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to anticipate, identify and solve problems; make decisions based on limited and/or conflicting data; ability
to understand and deduce good business practice, based on information and analysis. Ability to extrapolate
