In general, “gaming” PC’s don’t do well with PTC products; particularly
the graphics cards for gaming do not do well with any CAD tool. Rather
than this computer, I would suggest the Dell Precision T1600 below.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions regarding supported hardware
lately, mostly about Dell. Below you will find general info on
computers that will run Creo, followed by current information on Dell
specific “certified” hardware from the attached PDF. Certified
hardware has been tested and certified to work with PTC products.
Hardware does not have to be certified to work, however, having
enough memory (RAM) and a certified graphics card is very important:
 The minimum memory requirement for Creo is 1 GB, however, I
would not buy a new computer with less than 2 GB of memory. In
order to support not only upcoming releases Creo but operating
system upgrades and other software, I always suggest 2 GB or more.
3GB is better, 4GB is the best.
 Many of the cheaper laptops use an internal Intel graphics card,
these typically don’t work well. I have attached 4 PDF’s showing
certified graphics cards available from the main hardware vendors.
Another thing to note is that “gaming” graphics cards typically don’t
work well with CAD. If you can get one of the certified cards, that’s the
best option.
 Get the 64 bit Windows OS, it will last longer.
Certified Dell Hardware:
The list below corresponds to the list of certified Dell hardware on the
attached PDF. Keep in mind though, if you have at least 1 GB or RAM
and a certified graphics card, you will most likely be OK. Many
Starbases are currently running on hardware that is not certified.


R5500 – rack workstation, not relevant.
Precision M6600 - (laptop) has a 17.3 inch screen size but is
expensive. Can be purchased for around $1600 with 4GB of RAM and
supported graphics card.
 Precision M6500 – Also certified but not available online, you
have to call (I would check, may be cheaper than M6600).
 Precision M6400 – Cannot even find them on the Dell website
anymore.
 Precision T1600 - (not Laptop) can be purchased with 4GB of RAM
and the NVIDIA Quatro 600 graphics card (certified) for around $700
(good deal).
 Precision T3500 - (not Laptop) can be purchased with 4GB of RAM
and the NVIDIA Quatro 600 graphics card (certified) for around $930.
(I would go with T1600 instead).
 Precision T5500 - (not Laptop) can be purchased with 4GB of RAM
and certified graphics card for around $1500. (Not sure why it’s so
expensive).
 Precision T7500 – See T5500.
 Precision M4600 - (laptop) not as expensive as the M6600 but the
15.6 inch screen size is pretty small. Can be purchased with 4 GB of
RAM and a supported graphics card for around $1200.
 Precision M4500 – Also certified but not available online, you
have to call (I would check, may be cheaper than M4600).
 Precision M4400 – Don’t think they sell them anymore.
