Persuasive Commercial Script Sample
Directions: First choose an issue or topic that people have different opinions about. Then choose
your stance or viewpoint about the chosen topic. Next, choose three persuasive ideas that you
think will convince your audience to share your viewpoint. Try to find at least two supporting
arguments for each idea. After you have mapped out your support, write your script for your
persuasive commercial.
Topic: School Lunch Time: Should the school lunch time be improved?
Stance or Viewpoint: Yes, the school lunch time can be improved.
Persuasive Idea #1: Add salad bar
 Support: fresh vegetables and proteins
 Support: proteins like chicken, turkey, and tuna.
Persuasive Idea #2: Make hot lunches on-site
 Support: The food does not have to be shipped.
 Support: The cafeteria staff will enjoy choosing the meals.
Persuasive Idea #3: Round tables
 Support: Students will feel more comfortable.
 Support: Students will not have to yell down long tables to talk.
Script:
“The cafeteria food actually tastes good. But I think that there are three things that would
make lunch at school a better and more healthy experience. First, a salad bar could be
added to the cafeteria where we could build salads and choose fresh vegetables. We could
even add a protein like, chicken, turkey, or tuna. Next, I think the hot lunches should be
made on site rather than be shipped from a central kitchen. I think the cafeteria staff will
enjoy having more say in what dishes are served to their students. The third thing that
would make lunch time a more enjoyable experience would be using round tables instead
of long tables. The students will feel more comfortable and be able to have quieter
conversations without yelling down a long table. These are the ways I feel our lunch time
can get better. A salad bar, hot food made on-site, and round tables will be huge
improvements!”
