experience in IT ranging from roles in SAP Integration Consultancy, Technical Project
Management and Supply Chain Consultancy in the UK, Europe, USA and

design authority and accountability for the Global Back Office programme including SAP
processes and Oil Contracts Management:

physical trade settlements and accounting.
Design Authority for planning of ECC 6.0 and SAP PI upgrade.
Design Authority for Oil Contracts solution which uses a combination of Thunderhead
and Xceptor packages for contract generation, receipt and matching for both paper and
product based contracts.

This contract was based in Switzerland at Novartis’s Steine plant. This plant was the base
for their R&D and also an overflow production area for their multitude of products. The 3
month contract was to provide additional resource for Novartis’ interfaces from BPCS
6.0.04.




Design and modify programs using RPG, AS/Set and MQ Series.
Present training courses for MQ Series in the AS/400 environment.

This contract was with SKB’s IRSA department who handled the implementation and
support of manufacturing systems for their Worldwide markets and involved the upgrade of
BPCS version 4.0.02 to version 6.0.02 client/server. The BPCS, laboratory management
and market forecasting interfaces were also re-written to use IBM’s MQ Series product for
communications.





Program for MQ Series, ILE RPG and AS/Set on the AS/400.

January 96 - November 96 Knorr-Bremse – Manufacturing Consultant
Bristol
Knorr-Bremse manufactured air-brake parts and hydraulics for heavy goods vehicles. They
were in the process of transferring their COPICS package to a RISC AS/400 running BPCS
version 5.2 with various add-ons. Connection to the AS/400 was via a mix of ‘dumb’
terminals and PCs running Client/Access with Rumba/400.






Program modifications to BPCS 5.2 and MainTracker 5.1 using AS/Set and RPG.
Providing training in RPG/400, RPG IV (ILE), SQL, BPCS, AS/Set ADK, AS/Set IWS
and anything to do with the AS/400.
Development of Functional Design and Programming standards.
Write systems in ILE RPG to control user environments and to handle movement of all
software changes through the various environments on the development and live
AS/400s.
Transfer of information between AS/400, Mainframe and PCs for use in Excel,
UserVision and Microsoft Access.
Installation and set-up of BPCS and AS/Set environments.
November 95 - January 96 H Leverton - Manufacturing Consultant
Windsor, Berkshire
Leverton were a company that supplied Caterpillar parts to North Africa. They were running
BPCS version 4.0.4 with XM4 on the AS/400. This was a two month contract that involved
various fixes and modifications to BPCS, XM4 and a bespoke system written by Leverton
to control transfer of data from the Caterpillar DBS system. Connection to the AS/400 was
via PCs running Client/Access with NetSoft.
November 94 - November 95 Pacific Associates - Manufacturing Consultant
Frimley, Surrey
Pacific Associates were a Software House that mainly provided AS/400 skills for the BPCS
environment. Involved in programming and support for various SSA clients with BPCS
using a mix of RPG/400 and AS/Set.







Software control including upgrades and version control, initially with CCM.
Functional Conceptual design using SSA SDM methodology.
Technical design and programming mainly in AS/Set.
Providing software solutions to user requirements either using the AS/400 or other
media. e.g. Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic.
Interface EDI with client’s intercompany trade system and BPCS.
Investigating interfaces between BPCS and other packages. e.g. In-house bespoke
software and JD Edwards ledgers.

Rhône-Poulenc - Software Consultant
Avonmouth, Nr Bristol
Rhône-Poulenc Chemicals were part of a large pharmaceutical company and produced
fine chemicals at their Avonmouth Plant. The contract covered user liaison, analysis,
programming and support for the various systems on site.



PRISM MRO - involved in the initial installation of the purchasing and maintenance
packages. Also provided various modifications to the system and added variouos 'bolton' applications.
BPCS - installed SOP, Sales Ledger and XM4 Export package from SSA. Duties
included meeting with users to discuss requirements, design and analysis of a new
despatching system, user training and documentation.
INSIGHT - provided interface systems from BPCS, PRISM MRO and UNIPAY to the
general ledger.
