HOW TO FILE COLLEGE APPLICATIONS WITH THE COUNSELING OFFICE COMMON APPLICATION www.commonapp.org The Common Application is a standardized application that is accepted by hundreds of colleges. It contains most of the parts and forms of an application from an individual college. The greatest benefit to using the Common Application is that you can fill out one application and send it to many colleges that accept it. Check the website to see which colleges that you want to apply to are “member institutions.” The “common app” may be completed at their website and may either be sent electronically or printed as a typed copy and mailed to the colleges. If you choose to use the Common Application, please be aware that many colleges have supplemental (additional) questions, essays, and forms to the Common Application. Check the Common Application website for details. Do not forget to print out the School Report (Counselor Report), Midyear Report, and Teacher Evaluation forms and submit them to the proper individuals. Be sure to fill-out the “student section” of these forms.
