LOGLINE: A kid genius, his single mother and a conscientious professor team up against a large corporation when an imminent solar flare of catastrophic proportions threatens to paralyze modern civilization across the world. SHORT SYNOPSIS: Riley is a fifteen-year-old genius who is able to predict imminent solar flares with perfect accuracy. His latest prediction does not bode well for modern civilization. In eighteen hours there will be a solar flare powerful enough to cause a global electrical meltdown. Riley, his single mother and his ethicallyminded professor must band together to warn the world. In the process they must contend with the head of a massive corporation who stands to gain everything from silencing their dire warnings. LONG SYNOPSIS: Jamie, who works as a bouncer at a gentlemen’s club, is a fun-loving single mother to Riley, a fifteenyear-old genius whose idea of fun involves solving math problems. On his first day of classes at the local university, he shows his science professor a formula he has devised that allows him to accurately predict solar flares. His professor, Dr. Clark, is skeptical at first, since no technology or scientist has been able to accurately predict solar flares before. But after comparing his predictions with natural phenomena, she is shocked to learn that his system actually works. This is not good news, however, since Riley has predicted that in eighteen hours there will be a solar flare powerful enough to cause a world-wide electrical meltdown. According to Riley’s calculations, modern civilization will grind to a halt in less than one day. Without the time and resources to convince scientists or heads of state that Riley’s report is legitimate, Dr. Clark turns to the only person she knows can help her. Marshall Pryor is the menacing head of one of the biggest corporations in the world. He is also the sole sponsor of Dr. Clark’s lab. When she warns Pryor of the imminent devastating solar flare, Pryor admits that he plans to use this information to the advantage of his company and the detriment of the rest of the world. Rather than warning the powers that be, Pryor will quietly create a monopoly. Pryor sics his armed bodyguard on Dr. Clark, but she narrowly escapes harm and rushes to Riley’s home to warn him of Pryor’s malicious plan. Pryor is right behind them. When he enters the house, Riley hides. Thinking Riley has escaped, Pryor goes off in search for him. Jamie and Dr. Clark share a romantic moment admidst the pressure. Kline, Dr. Clark’s lab assistant, lures Dr. Clark and Riley back to the lab by promising that Pryor has set a meeting with Janssen, a Presidential Advisor. When they get to the lab they find they’ve been set up: there is no Janssen waiting for them and Kline has betrayed them. Pryor’s plan is to take Riley and Jamie to an underground bunker and await the disaster. Pryor will emerge with a monopoly on much of the world’s infrastructure, armed with Riley’s genius. With ingenuity and some martial arts skills, the clan manages to overcome Pryor and force him to come with them to the Mayor’s residence. They get through to the White House just in time for the President to lock down pipelines, turn off power sources and organize shelters. After the flare hits, the gang emerges from the bunker. The Earth has been rattled a bit, but the infrastructure remains intact. Later, we see that Dr. Clark has become part of the family, as she and Jamie share another romantic moment during a pleasant outdoor barbeque.
