Vocabulary Guidelines
1. As you read, look carefully for the A Separate Peace vocabulary words. When you
find a sentence with the word, write the sentence and the page number where you
found it on the back of the coinciding flashcard. You will earn 1 vocabulary point for
each word you find.
2. As we discuss in class, if you use a vocabulary word correctly in a response or
question, you will receive one vocabulary point. If you can then tell me the definition
after you use the word, you can receive another point. Someone else in class can
steal this extra point away from you if you can’t tell me the definition and he/she
can.
* Please note: In order to have the #2 vocabulary points count toward the
end tally, you MUST keep track of them.
How to keep track:
A. If you receive points on a given day, log the date and how many
points you received in your notebook.
B. Then, at the end of that class period, you must get Mrs. Cooley to
sign next to the point total for that day in order for it to count toward
the end tally.
So, how do I win and what do I get?
At the end of A Separate Peace, you will add all of your vocabulary points together
and the person with the most points will receive 5 bonus points on their A Separate
Peace vocabulary test, 5 bonus points on their A Separate Peace unit exam, and
major bragging rights; the second place winner will receive 5 bonus points on their
vocabulary test and major bragging rights; the third place winner will receive major
bragging rights 
* Only those who have all 25 vocabulary flashcards completed are eligible to win.
