This exercise is a team learning exercise and a review of the entire course. There will be multiple sessions. Groups are randomly assigned and consist of 3 or 4 student teams who work together to diagnose and answer questions about each clinical case. Some of these cases are provided by pathology residents and faculty. Each student team will also submit one case that could be mentored by a faculty member or could be based on textbook cases. Cases presentation may consist of the following information: clinical signs and test results, gross pathology, histopathology and clinical pathology. The game consists of clinical cases in a ppt form printed in color each in its own notebook. Notebooks are rotated between the teams for 10-15 minutes/case. Each team answers a series of questions about the case on an answer sheet that is turned in for grading during the exam. These answers are scored by the faculty and TAs. The team that come in first, second and third place will be given extra credit points towards any exam. The correct answers are reviewed for the class by the submitter in the second half of the exercise. These exercises could also be used for potential test questions for the exams. The alternative to the ppt above is the educational art project. Read Xuan’s ppt for details (on the website) Final exam 5% of final grade. This will be an in class- closed notebook exam. The questions will come from the lecturers. The format is multiple choice questions. Expect images or cartoons from your notes to be used to test you on each lecture.
