Partner to Protect South Florida Youth PEMBROKE PINES, FL- Having fun and being safe were the two key elements at the Power 1 Credit Union DNA LifePrint Back to School Child Safety Event. Power 1 Credit Union invited families within the surrounding communities to take part in a child safety program called the DNA LifePrint Kit and to enjoy a day of fun, games, safety and prevention tips, as well as prizes and refreshments at their headquarters in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Approximately 300 people took part in the festivities and over 210 children were given the DNA LifePrint Kit on August 20th, 2005. The DNA LifePrint program promotes child safety awareness and provides families with the tools needed to help protect their children against violence. With the DNA LifePrint Kit, parents received a Child Safety Journal, a high quality full color digital photograph of the child, a super-video CD with audio and visual of the child, and a home DNA identification kit that is very easy to use and lasts through generations. –more- Power 1 Credit Union and DNA LifePrint, Inc. Although the day was focused on child safety, there were plenty of activities to also ensure a day of fun. Power 1 Credit Union’s mascot Rocky Raccoon was on hand to greet every visitor and handed out prizes for those who took a spin on the Power 1 Prize Wheel. Muffin, the clown was on hand with face painting and games. There was even a “quiet” section where the Southwest Regional Library provided an imaginative story time. The Pembroke Pines Fire Department entertained kids and gave personalized tours of their impressive fire trucks. The Pembroke Pines Police Department provided child and school safety information and Mounted Patrol Officer Edmund Klingman showed off his trusted steed to the delight of everyone at the event. Parents and kids could also try their luck in guessing how many pennies were stuffed into one of three piggy banks. The winner would receive not only the piggy bank, but also its contents! All in attendance were treated to a pastry breakfast in the morning and hotdogs, popcorn and soda in the afternoon. Power 1 Credit Union has served South Florida for 53 years.
