Fertiliser Homestudy Project – Task 1
For this week’s homework, you will need to write a newspaper article about how the
World’s population is increasing extremely fast.

What to include in your article:
- What is the World Human Population today?
- How has the World population changed since 1000CE?
- Why has our population increased so quickly?
- What can we do to make sure that everyone has enough food, water, shelter and
health care?
Where can I get information?
You will need to search for information using the Internet or reference books about the
World’s population. There are many useful books in the LRC.
What do I do if I get stuck?
1) If you get stuck ask your teacher in plenty of time before the project is due in.
2) You can also look on the Year 7 Science page on the WIN.
3) You will find links to websites.
How long should this section be?
A good article will explain the answers to the questions above and be presented in the
style of a newspaper article. It should include a diagram, picture or a graph. You need to
make sure keywords are spelt correctly.
How much time should I spend on it?
This is a week’s worth of Homework so you should spend about ½-1 hour on it. We don’t
want you to spend HOURS and HOURS and HOURS of your life doing it, but it should be
a quality piece of work of a very good standard.
