Abigail is an external communications specialist. She ‘grew up’ in the large London PR
agencies working with top brands and global clients. Abigail has a passion for creating strong

Following 34 years with Barclays, the last 20 of which were spent account managing
business customers of all shapes, sizes and sectors, Jeremy joined a multinational
SME group in the IT sector as Group HR & Operations Director.
For the last three years he has run his own consultancy business Webbery
Associates Ltd recently rebranded as SatNav4Business. This provides consultancy,
advice and hands on support to owner managed businesses in the areas of
commercial, financial and operational management. Its primary aim is to help
business owners navigate their business from wherever they are now towards
wherever they want to go- sometimes helping them to choose this or to raise finance.
Jeremy chairs the Finance and Strategy Forum and hosts the Dorking PubHub. He
was recently nominated in the category Best Professional Adviser/ Consultant in the
Leatherhead Business Awards.

I have been a member of the IoD for some 13 years . My background is in
remuneration consulting. I spent the first half of my career with a US organisation
advising companies and remuneration committees on executive and employee
schemes and incentive structures. In 1997 I co-founded a new HR consulting
business which then acquired Inbucon, the first HR consulting company in the UK.
We now I currently work on specialist remuneration projects for government bodies
and large multinationals. I live in Great Bookham, Surrey and am involved with a
number of local initiatives, including one which will see my local community being
one of the first nationally to take forward the idea of developing a Neighbourhood
Plan as encompassed in the new Localism Bill.

Bob Pickles has worked for Canon (UK) Ltd for over 23 years. During that time, he has held a number of
management and senior positions within the Sales and Marketing elements of Canon's business, and for
the last 12 years has worked entirely within Canon's significant Public Sector business.
His current role makes good use of the extensive knowledge, contacts and experience he has gained
from across the public sector. His role is to look for ways of developing all of Canon's business, and

I graduated in Economics & Politics from the University of Leeds. My early career
was with major FMCG companies in brand management and marketing including
Rowntree Mackintosh and Allied Domecq. Following this I moved to 3i Plc, the UKs

Since then I have advised and invested in a series of high growth companies which I

After completion of my 1st Degree I worked in a few employed positions before starting my
first business managing holiday let properties. My other early adventures were as diverse as
heritage research and literature publication and retail development. I also worked with a
number of SME start-ups as consultant and mentor. During this period I took a year out to
complete an MA in Philosophy.
My current main role is as a generalist Director for a pension consultancy where I oversee all
aspects of the business outside the technical pension areas.
I am a volunteer mentor for Surrey Care Trust mentoring young adults from disadvantaged
backgrounds who need support moving on after completing their formal education.
I was a founder member of the British Society for Practical Philosophy (now the SPP) and
am currently working on the utility and application of Philosophical techniques for personal
development.

Robert May founded ramsac in 1991. He is responsible for business strategy,
technology design and industry partner relations. He serves as an outsourced IT
Director for numerous businesses, advising a wide range of sectors on technology,
and the relevant business implications. Robert is an experienced industry writer and
spokesperson and has been responsible for numerous whitepapers on embracing
changes in technology. Robert was named as a finalist in both the Institute of
Directors ‘Director of the Year’ awards, and as ‘Business Person of the Year’ in the
Surrey Business awards in 2008 and 2009 and was recently won the Toast of Surrey
Business award in the £5m category.
Robert lives with his wife and two children in Horsell. He is a governor of Churchers

I am a keen advocate of the IoD and seek to serve our members in this area.
I have always been passionate about learning and making a contribution outside my
business and career. Currently in the IoD I run the People Forum. I lead a number of
other community teams, committees and initiatives locally. I was a Founder Member
of 2 National Insurance Training Institutes whilst overseas.
I have been building my Priority Management training business for 10 years. It is
based upon a ‘Trusted Associate’ and contractor model, so I have good degree of
empathy with the majority of IoD members. Clients range from local businesses
through to Fortune 500 clients who we work with across Europe.
Prior to this I was a Chartered Insurer, working in the city and overseas where I held
