Maria Henderson Library, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Partnerships Library Service Membership of the Library 21.4.06 (1a) Full membership : NHSGG&C Partnerships: - staff working within GG&C Partnerships contractual staff working within GG&C, including GPs, practice nurses etc trainees (SHOs and registrars) in the West of Scotland training scheme in Psychiatry staff employed outwith the GG&C Partnerships who are involved in planning mental health/community services, eg. clinical governance, pharmacy - Bank staff (eg. bank nurses) employed by NHSGG&C - social care staff and other non-NHS staff working within NHSGG&C Partnerships (eg. social workers, voluntary and charity workers, Macmillan nurses) - staff working within GG&C Partnerships but employed by other NHS Boards, eg. NHS Lanarkshire - staff employed in Glasgow City Council-run nursing homes - employed staff members of Glasgow University and students of the University’s Department of Psychological Medicine (eg. D.Clin.Psy. students) (no access to document delivery service) - other students of the University’s Department of Psychological Medicine (eg. MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology, South of Scotland Cognitive Behavioural Therapy course) (no access to document delivery service) Full membership entitles access to free self-service photocopying (under current copyright legislation), use of the Document Delivery Service at no direct charge, access to literature search service and full borrowing rights. (1b) Full membership : non-Partnerships staff (eg. acute sector) - staff employed elsewhere in NHSGG&C (eg. in acute sector, Health Board) - medical and nursing staff from Barlinnie and Low Moss Prisons As above, but charges are made for photocopying and use of the document request service. Requests for document delivery or literature searches will be directed to the user’s local Library Service (eg. Yorkhill or North Division). (2) Undergraduate membership: - undergraduate students at Glasgow University, Strathclyde University and other HE institutions running health-related courses. Lasts for the duration of the placement at NHSGG&C, and entitles users to limited borrowing rights. Photocopying is fully chargeable. Details should also be provided on the membership form of the student’s tutor/supervisor, together with the date the placement ends. Library staff reserve the right to contact the relevant HE library service and/or the named tutor or supervisor if required to trace any missing items not returned by an undergraduate member. * Undergraduate students from Glasgow Caledonian University are currently not entitled to Undergraduate membership, pending further discussion with GCU Library Service. (3) Reference only: - staff and students of other organisations, and to members of the public. Photocopying is fully chargeable, and the Document Delivery Service is not available. Library staff can undertake enquiries for carers and members of the public (relatives or patients), but enquiries will only be accepted via a member of clinical staff. (4a) External membership – individuals or non-profit making organisations: (fees are per calendar year, and payable in advance): (a) £10 basic membership This entitles the user to full borrowing rights. Photocopying and use of the Document Delivery Service are fully chargeable. This can be taken out by any individual – from the NHS, social care, undergraduate students, private sector etc – not included in the above categories. (b) £30 for NHS staff employed outwith NHSGG&C This entitles users to borrowing rights, free self-service photocopying, and use of the Document Delivery Service. At the discretion of Library staff, excessive use of the Document Delivery Service may be subject to charge. (c) £60 for non-NHS staff employed outwith NHSGG&C This entitles users to borrowing rights, free self-service photocopying, and use of the Document Delivery Service. At the discretion of Library staff, excessive use of the Document Delivery Service may be subject to charge. (4b) External membership - institutions: (Fees are per calendar year and payable in advance. Any institution purchasing external membership should nominate a named contact for enquiries, and to take responsibility for arranging payment of fees. Any of the institution’s staff using the Library service should first complete a Library membership form). (a) Basic membership : £10 per person This entitles the user to free borrowing. Photocopying and use of the Document Delivery Service are fully chargeable. (b) NHS institutional membership : £30 per person for NHS institutions, eg. Scottish Ambulance Service This entitles registered users to borrowing rights, free self-service photocopying, and use of the Document Delivery Service. At the discretion of Library staff, excessive use of the Document Delivery Service may be subject to charge. (c) Non-NHS institutional membership : £60 per person for non-NHS institutions, eg. Quarriers, private nursing homes This entitles registered users to borrowing rights, free self-service photocopying, and use of the Document Delivery Service. At the discretion of Library staff, excessive use of the Document Delivery Service may be subject to charge. Note about electronic resources: Walk-in access to the NHS Scotland eLibrary, including resources subscribed to by NHS Greater Glasgow Library Services, is available to any staff not entitled to register for an Athens password.
