Teacher praise, stickers, certificates and even the odd paddle pop from our canteen are ways to encourage and reward great work. Our Students of the Week Awards are another way! GLADSTONE RFF REPORT Week 8 finds the students in the 3/6 classes working on maths skills and writing skills. I am pleased to notice mathematics skills are improving steadily each week. Bookwork in maths texts is also greatly improved. This week writing skills focussed on the NARRATIVE. Opening sentences were supplied and students had to use their imaginations to continue the text whilst remembering how to apply basic grammar and punctuation skills. Poetry is also a regular activity with students learning about HAIKU poetry last week and this week LIMERICKS. Our Visual Arts sessions are popular. The class has recently completed an “Ice-Cream” artwork, which employed several steps during its creation. These are now on display in the senior classroom. Students are currently creating a “CLASH PATTERN” crayon work which should be eye catching when displayed. Craft activities included pom poms (Which are nearing completion), hessian and metallic thread sewing, (for placemats) and a Papier Mache mask will be started soon… So watch this space for progress reports. IH Ava Jordon for beautiful presentation of work at all times. K/1/2 students are working nicely each week while they continue to learn about “SHELTERS” in HSIE. This week they learned about shelter types in the ANTARCTIC!! Until next time, Cathy Craig. 1H CLASS NEWS It has been relatively normal for the last 2 weeks, a pleasant change. Holidays are looming and hopefully so is the warmer weather. I will be taking Long Service Leave for the last week of this term and for the first 3 weeks of 4th term.
