JOB DESCRIPTION Community & Events Manager WORK FOR A CHARITY WITH A DIFFERENCE Spinal research charity Wings for Life UK – www.wingsforlife.com - is looking for a talented and highly motivated inividual to join their UK Team. As the title charity partner of Red Bull, this job offers a unique opporunity to get involved in the charity sector within a corporate setting. Based out of Red Bull’s UK headquarters, you would be part of a small team where you will be able to apply yourself to all apsects of fundraising, events and communications. BACKGROUND ABOUT WINGS FOR LIFE Wings for Life is dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. The charity was founded in 2004 by Red Bull CEO Dietrich Mateschitz and the two-time motocross world champion Heinz Kinigadner. In order to realise its vision, Wings for Life supports and finances world class scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at healing the injured spinal cord. In addition, Wings for Life facilitates the sharing of scientific knowledge and the development of technology designed to reduce the risk of injury. WINGS FOR LIFE’S IMPACT & SUPPORT To date Wings for Life has funded 64 spinal cord research projects worldwide. Our scientists work at well respected institutes such as Cambridge University (UK), Harvard Medical School (USA), Karolinska Institute (Sweden) and Charité Berlin (Germany). Wings for Life also has many ambassadors who support their work including former Formula One driver David Coulthard and Red Bull Racing‘s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. A UNIQUE CONTRACT Wings for Life guarantees that 100% of donations are spent on spinal cord research as the Red Bull company covers all administrative costs. This means that the candidate who is selected for this job would be on a corporate contract with Red Bull which includes competitive corporate benefits. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES To support and develop individual supporters raising funds for Wings for Life UK, ensuring they have an excellent supporter experience and consider giving to our cause again in the future To develop, manage and deliver third party fundraising events where Wings for Life is the beneficiary charity, ensuring excellent planning, on-the-day delivery and post-event follow up To manage all volunteers who support Wings for Life at events and in other activities To manage one-off projects and business development tasks aimed at improving the operations and fundraising capacity of the charity To support the Head of Wings for Life UK with marketing and communications and administration, in particular social media, news story writing and press release development To support the Head of Wings for Life UK with general administration including database entry, thanking, banking and filing KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Excellent relationship management skills Excellent planning and organisational skills Excellent written and verbal communications skills Experience of managing events & projects Experience of working with multiple stakeholders Very flexible and able to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment.
