Position Description – Information Technology Trainee – Certificate IV in Network Management The commercial activities of the Faculty are coordinated by the Industry Training and Consultancy Unit. Among the Unit’s activities are the running of short courses, tendered projects and customising training programs for industry, both on and off-shore. The Faculty is continuing to develop and expand its already extensive research activities, with the goal of conducting high quality research to the benefit of the Australian community. Research is concentrated within areas relevant to environmental management, fitness, maintenance of health and prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of disease. The increased skills and knowledge gained through research flow directly to the undergraduate programs. 4. JOB SUMMARY The appointee will provide professional IT support as a member of the Faculty of Life Sciences IT Support Team. This will include Helpdesk operation and support, basic PC support, the update and maintenance of the Faculty Hardware/Software database, network duties and other duties as directed. The appointee will undertake a traineeship operating over 2 years, during which time they will be trained to Certificate IV level in Network Management.. 5. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The appointee will report to the IT Manager. 6. The training component will be based on an industry developed training package involving learning units based on available industry competency standards.
