Policy: This procedure covers shipments through UTi consolidations only.
When the shipper requests a door-to-door service, excluding Customs clearance, the service is referred to as Free House Delivery, or “DDU”. Free House Delivery
( “DDU”) means that the rate on the Hawb/HOBL includes the delivery charges from the Hawb/HOBL destination to the consignee’s door. Free House Delivery
(“DDU”) does not include Customs clearance or duties.
Company Standard: The destination station’s Breakbulk department will be responsible for invoicing the origin office or agent for the Free House Delivery
(
“DDU”) charges.
If the consignee requires clearance by another broker other than UTi, the documents will be turned over to the outside broker along with instructions advising the shipment is DDU. A copy of the broker’s delivery order and customs release is required prior to movement and delivery of freight. If UTi is the broker, the brokerage department will advise the Breakbulk department of the customs release, which will enable them to dispatch the freight to the consignee.
The Free House Delivery ( “DDU”) charges will be billed to the origin office or agent on the UOP Breakbulk invoice, using the assigned UOP account/client number of the overseas office.
All Free House Delivery ( “DDU”) invoicing and supporting documents listed below must be forwarded promptly via fax or electronically to the originating foreign office, to enable them to collect the service fees from their customer.
Free House Delivery (
“DDU”) charges are not negotiable. Requests for reductions in these charges by overseas Offices or Agents are to be referred to the Regional V.P.
Free House Delivery “DDU” Invoice Packages are to include supporting documents in the following order:
A - The Break bulk invoice.
B - The Hawb/HOBL.
C - The delivery order.
