KNEWTON TEST PREP SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Beginning in October 2010, Hampden-Sydney students are able to enroll in Knewton GMAT
and LSAT prep classes at a discounted rate: $345 (75% off the price of other test prep services). While the
potential benefits to be gained from a high GMAT or LSAT score and successful acceptance to a noteworthy
graduate school are high, Hampden-Sydney also recognizes that up-front costs may present a barrier to the
class for some students. Therefore, in addition to the 50% discount, Hampden-Sydney will award three full
scholarships to students chosen on the basis of a resume, two essays, and interview. For those who are not
awarded one of the three scholarships, Hampden-Sydney will reimburse students who attend every class and
successfully complete all homework assignments(1).
An excellent GMAT or LSAT score significantly improves a student’s portfolio as they prepare to
apply to business or law school. In a worst case scenario, a weak score can prevent an admissions committee
from giving serious consideration to an applicant, and in a best case scenario, a strong score can mean the
difference between an admission and a rejection.
Requirements
All students are eligible to apply for a scholarship; however preference will be given to students with a
GPA over 3.0. Selection is based upon demonstrated interest in business pursuits, level of introspection
reflected in essays, prior academic performance at Hampden-Sydney, and overall commitment to GMAT or
LSAT preparation. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and selection is dependent upon
available funding.
All application materials must be presented in person to the Office of Career Development. To be
considered for the scholarship, please submit a completed scholarship application form, a current resume and
responses to the following essays.

Application Review
A committee of faculty and staff will thoroughly review each applicant’s completed application. A select
number of applicants with compelling essays will be invited to a brief interview. Decisions will be announced
via email.

Students are on their honor to give a good faith effort on all homework assignments. If program overseers suspect that a
student has haphazardly completed assignments solely to receive reimbursement, the student will not be reimbursed.
