Job Description Audiologist/Speech Pathologist JOB TITLE: Audiologist/Speech Pathologist WAGE/HOUR STATUS: REPORTS TO: Principal TERMS: DEPARTMENT: Campus Assigned PAY GRADE: Exempt 187 Days Teacher Pay Schedule PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide participating member school districts with educational services and resources so that a free appropriate public education is available to hearing impaired students according to state and federal guidelines. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology From an Accredited College or University, Preferred Valid Texas License as a Speech-Language Pathologist Granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) Valid Texas Teaching Certification Texas License From the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Minimum Experience: Experience in the prevention, identification, evaluation, and intervention of speech, language and related impairments Three Years Successful Experience as a Classroom Teacher, Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Page 1 of 4 Job Description Speech Pathologist MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Instructional Strategies 1. Provide prevention strategies through in-service training and consultation. 2. Identify children with speech and/or language impairments. 3. Evaluate and diagnose specific speech and/or language impairments. 4. Make referrals for medical or other professional attention necessary for the children with speech and/or language impairments. 5. Develop IEP goals and objectives for children with speech and/or language impairments. 6. Provide speech and/or language services through a variety of services delivery models to children in need. 7. Provide counseling and guidance for parents, children, and teachers regarding speech and/or language impairments. 8. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records, and other documents required by federal, state, or district policies. 9. Participate effectively in the ARD process. Communication 10. Establish and maintain open lines of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers. 11. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Other 12. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. 13. Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting). 14.
