Target audience
This course is aimed at NHS Pre-registration Pharmacists in the South East, within Kent &
Medway, Surrey & Sussex and Hampshire & the Isle of Wight.
Learning Outcomes
 To describe the role of Pharmacy within the NHS
 To describe the principles of ‘competence based training’ in relation to the RPSGB
Workbook and SEMMED Handbook
 To produce learning contracts between the pre-registration pharmacists and the SEMMED
Pharmacy Education & Training team
 To describe the principles of audit and its application to pharmacy
 To define the properties of an effective team
 To describe new and developing roles of pharmacy staff
 To define the role of the tutor in pre-registration training
Promoting and supporting an effective pharmacy workforce

How to get there
THE UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX is located at Falmer, on the outskirts of Brighton and
within easy reach of London. There are various travel options available to visitors.
TRAIN
Change at Brighton or Lewes for Falmer Station, which is immediately opposite the
University entrance and is well served by frequent local trains from Brighton and Lewes
(about eight minutes from either direction) running until about midnight. There are no taxis
at Falmer and the walk to the residences will take about ten minutes.
BUS
Bus numbers 28, 128, and 729 travel between Brighton (Old Steine) and Lewes and stop
outside the University;
Bus number 25 runs between Brighton (Old Steine) and the University and comes to the
North end of campus where the residences are located.
CAR
The University is on the main A27 road between Brighton and Lewes, c.4 miles from
Brighton centre and Lewes. From London take the M23/A23, coming off on the outskirts of
Brighton to join the A27 eastbound towards Lewes.
From the west take the A27 direct to the University; from the east they should go to Lewes
and follow the signs for Brighton.

Car-parking
Car parking in the Uni. of Sussex is very clearly sign-posted. It is recommended that you
park in car park 9 (closest car park to the accommodation).
Ensure you place your car-parking permit on display on your dash-board, to avoid
charges.
