Research the history of the China/Tibet conflict.

Become familiar with the political and religious systems that govern China and
Tibet.
Task: write a research paper on any topic related to the China/Tibet conflict. It may specifically
address the Dalai Lama’s answers to any of the questions asked by Rick Ray in the film. It may
address the history of the territorial dispute and any specific aspect of that dispute. But you get
to identify the topic, choose the purpose and direction of the paper, and what materials you will
choose to use for the content of the paper. It may informational, argumentative, or analytical.
Due Date: May 6
Format: 2000 buzzwords, MLA, with Works Cited page with at least ten resources.

OWL to get your formatting and style straight.
First (5 points): submit a topic and purpose statement(March 8)
Second (5 points): submit a preliminary bibliography (March 10). Note: Wikipedia resources are
not permitted.
Third: begin taking notes on Noodletools as you read (March 11-April 27)
Fourth: draft your paper (due May 1) This is worth 50 possible points. Late drafts will be
penalized ten points per day. The draft must be a complete document, with Works Cited page
and parenthetical documentation.
Submit your final paper (due May 6) This is worth 100 possible points. Late papers will be
penalized ten points per day.
