Potluck Patchwork Party
Carolyn’s Corner
Spring Market was very inspiring. There may have been
less new trends to watch but what was there….was… well
thought out. I think, in some ways, a slumping economy has
helped the quilting industry and us, the quilter’s. I think
much more thought has gone into the fabrics and the
products introduced. There was less frivolous products and
what was there had a purpose. Less attention was placed on
impulse items. I think the industry has finally figured out
that we quilters are discriminating buyers when it comes to
our craft. When times are tough, it’s all about the fabric.
Summer is a time for much more than quilting. We spend
time with family, picnics, graduations, weddings and so
much more. The garden and yard need tending. I pray for
rainy days to justify staying in my sewing room and just
playing. Duties make me feel guilty about what I love. I
would much rather stay home from work in my pj’s, and
design, but unfortunately, I am a workaholic (according to
my husband). The last year and a half has been challenging
in so many ways. I have started a whole new career. I have
had to live away from my family most of the time, but it has
been rewarding. As editor of Quilter’s World and House of
White Birches quilt books (soon to be Annie’s) I have
traveled and experienced many new and exciting things, but
my heart is in Michigan. I miss you all.
See you on weekends!
Be happy, be creative and
Keep Piecing,
Carolyn
Looking for a night out? Need some help with a project?
Or maybe you just want to hang out with great people
who quilt. We are having a Potluck Quilting Party for
quilters. All you have to do is RSVP, bring a dish to
pass, a project to work on and enjoy. We will supply the
expert help, drinks and all the paper products. The cost
is $5.00. The party will be held on a Friday evening each
month.
July 20th, 6:00 – 9:30 pm
August 17th, 6:00 – 9:30pm
September 21st, 6:00 – 9:30pm
October 19th, 6:00pm – 9:30pm
November 9th, 6:00 – 9:30pm
December 14th, 6:00 – 9:30pm
What a way to spend an evening.
Let’s Help Lighthouse
We need your help. The chest isn’t filling very fast this
year. We need stockings for the Christmas store at the
Lighthouse. If you need a pattern for the stocking, we still
have them and will be more than happy to give you one.
Making stockings and pillowcases for the Lighthouse is a
great way to use up your stash and scraps.
I know they were truly appreciated and were given to needy
families in our community. Now don’t forget we also have a
food drop box in our foyer. Now is the time to start if you
intend to donate, either food or stockings and pillowcases.
With the economy still a mess, there are many in need and I
personally feel every child should have a Christmas no
matter the circumstances.
Don’t forget the paper bags also. They really need them.
