Knouse Foods Cooperative closing Inwood, WV applesauce plant
Knouse Foods Cooperative is closing its Musselman applesauce plant in Berkeley County, WV
because of a declining supply of apples. Knouse Foods also cited the need for major
infrastructure improvements at the Inwood plant. Knouse says the plant will close in
November. The cooperative plans to maintain its warehousing, storage and distribution

Pilgrim’s Pride idling two more plants
Pilgrim's Pride has announced plans to idle a chicken processing plant in Clinton, Arkansas.
The Arkansas shutdown includes both a chicken processing plant that employed 336 people,
and a feed mill where another 24 people worked. Pilgrim's Pride also announced it's shutting
down a further-processing facility in Bossier City, Louisiana, where hundreds more were
employed. Both moves are expected to be complete by November.

Following its recent purchase of Altivity Packaging, Graphic Packaging has announced it will be
closing its plants in Greensboro, NC; Smyrna, Tn and Richmond, Va, before the end of 2008.

NewPage closing Wisconsin paper mill
NewPage said it will close its coated paper mill in Kimberly, Wisconsin by September,
displacing the 475 workers. Newpage, a leader in coated paper used in magazines and
catalogs cited a reduction in print advertising and lower paper demand at the same time that
costs for fuel and raw material have risen as the reasons for closing the mill.

Just 16 months after Synergy Graphics of Plymouth, Minn., purchased Sunny Industries out of
receivership, Synergy has announced that it will close its Synergy Web Graphics’ Mazomanie,
Wisconsin plant this fall, citing debts of more than $18 million. Synergy Graphics purchased
Sunny Industries, its 350,000-square-foot plant and seven printing presses for $7.8 million.
The closing scheduled by mid September will put 125 people out of work. The plant prints
magazines and direct-mail pieces.

of its sale to a Swedish company. The Kobelco Metal Powder plant is expected to close in the

DynAmerica files bankruptcy; closing two auto parts plants
DynAmerica has confirmed its Muncie, Indiana auto parts plant will close by the end of
September, costing 105 workers their jobs. DynAmerica said pressure from creditors and the
“devastating downturn” in the U.S. automotive market spelled the end and that the company
has filed bankruptcy in Delaware. The company made, for the most part, automotive parts,
including pieces of seat belts.

Hynix closing Eugene, Oregon semiconductor
Hynix is closing its Eugene, Oregon plant by September and will lay off its 1,113 employees.
The plant started production in 1998. Hynix said the closure is due to the semiconductor
industry's move away from the dimension of silicon wafers used at the Eugene plant to make

General Electric closing Cleveland light bulb plant
