DEED OF ASSIGNMENT
This Deed of Assignment (“Deed”) is made by <name of participant as in NRIC/FIN> [NRIC/FIN No.
________________] ("you") in favour of Temasek Polytechnic of 21 Tampines Avenue 1, Singapore
529757 ("TP”) and Singapore Kindness Movement of Old Hill Street Police Station, 140 Hill Street #05-01,
Singapore 179369 (“SKM”) jointly.
It is agreed:

In relation to your participation in the “Write for Kindness 2013” competition (“Competition”), which is
organized by TP and SKM, specifically with regard to a story entitled “<title of story>” (“Story”), you
agree irrevocably to assign, free from any encumbrance, to TP and SKM jointly, the following:
(a) all your intellectual property rights in any works, designs and inventions, and in any forms of expression
embodying such works, made by you, whether made solely by you or together with others, that have
arisen in connection with the Story; and
(b) that such intellectual property rights assigned to TP and SKM jointly shall include, without limitation,
rights (i) worldwide; (ii) present and future; (iii) in any adaptation; (iv) to apply for and own patents,
design registrations, copyrights, trade mark registrations or similar forms of protection worldwide; (v) to
exploit the same in commerce or for public good; and (vi) to recover and take proceedings for
infringement.

The benefits from TP and SKM to you (as may be applicable) in consideration for the above
assignment, which consideration you acknowledge to be sufficient, include the following:
(a) TP’s and SKM’s provision of education and coaching, and/or the opportunity for you to participate in the
Competition; or
(b) without any obligation, TP’s and SKM’s consideration of the use and industrial application of the
intellectual property concerned in commerce or for public good, and if so, TP’s and SKM’s efforts to
secure its protection, development and exploitation.

You undertake and agree:
(a) that you will not grant nor agree to grant any intellectual property rights to any other party that conflicts
with this Deed;
(b) to give to TP and SKM any known information relating to any intellectual property rights assigned under
this Deed;
(c) to sign such further documents and do all things necessary, as may be requested by TP and SKM, in
order to perfect or give effect to the assignment under this Deed; and
(d) that the intellectual property rights assigned under this Deed are neither defamatory nor libelous, and
that they do not infringe the rights of any third party.

This Deed is binding on the parties’ successors-in-title and assigns, as the case may be. Any delay or
failure by TP and/or SKM to exercise any right shall not constitute a waiver. If any provision of this
Deed is held to be unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed to have been severed and the rest of
this Deed shall remain valid and enforceable. This Deed is made under the laws of Singapore.
