TAG Aviation, San Francisco, Geneva, Farnborough 2001 to 2006

VICE PRESIDENT, SAFETY & SECURITY Led all aspects of safety & security for TAG USA, including all

Part 91 and 135 managed aircraft operations. Assisted international based TAG organizations (JAA equivalent of a Part 135 charter operation in Geneva, and the TAG owned and operated Farnborough Airport) with safety and security functions. Provided safety, risk management and loss control support to all department heads from

Sales and Finance to Flight Operations and Maintenance. Established several safety critical programs including:

Risk based anonymous hazard reporting system

FAA compliant “recognize & refuse” dangerous goods training to prevent shipping or carriage of DG

FAA approved passenger medical oxygen program (only Part 135 operator in US with this program)

Emergency response plan with regular table top drills

TSA-compliant Part 135 security program for entire TAG USA operation

Enhancements improved customer confidence, helped reduce aircraft insurance premiums by 40%, reduced ground damage events, increased employee morale and fostered excellent relations with regulatory authorities.

Aviation Safety Programs Inc. Phoenix, AZ 1999 to 2001

SAFETY & SECURITY CONSULTANT Developed and implemented effective safety programs for various commercial and corporate operators.

Conducted code-share audits of Part 129 international flag carriers on behalf of a major US airline

Led successful effort to re-establish code share status between a Part 129 flag carrier and a major US carrier

Established three FAA-compliant safety programs: two at Part 121 airlines and the other at a Part 135 operation

America West Airlines, Phoenix, AZ 1997 to 1999

VICE PRESIDENT, SAFETY First VP Safety for America West (26 people, $8 million per year budget), encompassing safety for the airport, flight operations, maintenance, cabin, occupational and environmental concerns. Qualified on B757 but did not fly the line.

Implemented Behavior Based Safety program which reduced On-the-Job-Injury (OJI) rates and aircraft damage.

Successfully reduced OJI and property damage each year (by more than 15% in each category)

Started Flight Data Analysis (FOQA) program for improving Flight Operations, Maintenance and Engineering

Started an internal evaluation program (considered by FAA as best in the industry)

Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, Seattle, WA 1989 to 1997

ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION TEAM LEADER Appointed as liaison between the Investigating Authority and Boeing. As part of the Boeing Air Safety Investigation team, involved in all major Boeing accident investigations during this time.

Worked on nine different field investigations resulting in significant design and procedural changes.

Developed an advanced accident investigation training session for presentation at the FAA training academy

Created a course on basic accident investigation for both employees and airlines.

Designed course that taught basic safety program management to airline managers, safety officers and government officials. Program was translated into Chinese, Russian and Spanish and presented more than 70 times to over 2000 people. (1993 to 1997).

Developed and managed a three year, $1.1 million dollar effort to improve airline safety in China. Taught the

Safety Program Model to airline and government officials. Organized and conducted on-site safety audits at all 40+ airlines in China and set up an internship program for Chinese safety officers to travel and work with existing and effective safety departments at international airlines. (1993 to 1996).

Created concept and wrote script for a video which demonstrated the goals and processes associated with a safety program. Intended for distribution at the employee level, the video dramatized an unplanned event in airline operations and offered a situation resolution. Video was incorporated into training programs worldwide. (1995)

Created and oversaw airline-style flight safety program for Boeing Flight Test pilots and engineers. Expanded to include all the Company’s training pilots. (1992 to 1997).
