CALL FOR PRESENTERS Washington State Indian Education Association’s 28th Annual Conference March 26-28, 2012 Yakima Convention Center 607 East Yakima Avenue Yakima, Washington 98901 www.yakimacenter.com “Let’s Do It: Language, Culture &History” The Washington State Indian Education Association (WSIEA) Board invites presenters to share their experience and knowledge with educators, students, and administrators at our 28th Annual WSIEA Conference being held March 26-28, 2012 at the Yakima Convention Center, Yakima, Washington. Presentations should be positive, motivating, and informative. We wish to increase the conference participant's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to Indian education, community involvement and Indian self-determination. Suggested conference topics should keep our 2012 theme in mind and could also include: Promoting/Strengthening Student Leadership Drugs & Alcohol Prevention Early Childhood Eliminating the Academic Achievement Gap Health Education & Wellness Strategies for Family/Community Involvement Youth Oriented (workshops geared toward Native youth will be included as part of our youth track during the concurrent workshop sessions on March 27) Parent Involvement/Training Cultural Responsive Curriculum Native Language Programs Best Practices Tribal/School Collaboration Higher Education Culture and Tradition Tribal Education Departments Indian Self-Determination Workshop sessions will be held Monday afternoon, March 26, and Tuesday morning and afternoon, March 27.
