Accessible Web Content for
Instruction – Visual Grammar
and Meaning: Proprietary file
formats like Word DOC, Power
Point PPT, and Acrobat PDF hide
the structural components of
accessibility. The open format of
Web Markup and Style Languages
reveals invisible language entities
that raise or remove access
barriers. This session will
compare two visually identical
versions of the same syllabus one accessible, one not. It will
compare their structure and
illustrate how these differences
compromise some individuals'
ability to perceive, operate and
understand the content. It will
show how a robust document
structure enables use for every
qualified user.
