SAMPLE COMPETENCY QUIZ WITH ANSWERS
July 7, 2010
QUIZ REQUIREMENTS: This competency quiz is adapted from 4th through 8th
grade MCAS test questions and is considered a prerequisite for success in EDC
508. This SAMPLE quiz is distributed at program orientation for your advance
study and preparation. The SAMPLE quiz shows the identical order of each
question and the same general format and content for each question. The
SAMPLE quiz will be reviewed briefly during class one. The actual quiz will be
taken during the SECOND class. As with the MCAS, calculators are not allowed.
A passing score of at least 85% (24 correct out of 28) must be reached by each
student. If students do not pass the quiz, they are urged to sign up for on-line
tutoring through the Aleks.com , seek private tutoring, or take the AIC Math
MTEL review courses offered at various sites. A second competency quiz will be
given on a subsequent night of class. Failure to pass the quiz with a score of at
least 85% at this time will result in an INCOMPLETE for the course and require
future testing to be arranged until 85% is reached.
