from 3:00 until 9:30 PM and November 18 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM. We have

ZONTA CLUB’S DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH GOLF OUTING
AND JEWELRY FASHION SHOW - RECAP
The Second Annual Zonta Golf Outing and Jewelry Fashion Show was held on
Friday, September 22 at Rich Spring Golf Course. We once again had seven
teams registered. The number of sponsors was up, the number of door prizes
was up, the number of silent auction items was up and the rain came down! In
fact, the rain came down so much that the golf course was closed! We moved
indoors and had a putting contest, a cribbage tournament, a 500 card
tournament, Texas Hold’em and other games. Out of 47 people pre-registered,
only 5 did not show up due to the rain. Our preliminary figures show a profit of
$3,900.
Next year’s event will be held on September 14 and we need to get more teams
entered. It is never too soon to talk up the event. Think about bringing in your
friends from out of town and make it a girls’ weekend!

Many positive comments on the quality of Gene’s (Southway Floral) plants.
Thanks to all who donated time to this fundraiser.

mothers overcome their fears of taking care of a child before their baby is
born. Journey Home is also breaking ground for a new larger facility so
chemically dependent women can enter treatment and have their kids with
them.
$1,220 of the Flower Sale proceeds went to Anna Marie’s who will use the
funds for their children’s program.
Sister Andrea Update

Golf Outing
3. Deb Grant sent out Thank You notes to all companies/individuals
that contributed to the success of our second annual Golf Outing.
4. Next years event we’ll promote the event will be held rain or shine.
This years event was a success on a rainy day – it would have been
better had the word got out that we intended to meet whether it
rained or not.
5. Another idea for next year is to make time in between jewelers. The
women modeling have to make it around the room to show the
jewels before the next jeweler starts with their presentation.
6. This idea is an offset from the Golf Outing – “Girls Night Out”,
possibly tie this in with Rose Day in Feb./March – This would consist
of getting a group together (possibly with another local
organization) for dinner, models displaying either jewelry or clothing.
Christmas House

5. 12 decorators.
6. We do not have to pay for a hotel room for the Coborn’s as they will
be staying at their cabin.
7. Mary will update our website with all information on the Christmas
House for those who want to access information on the Internet.
8. Deb is coordinating the schedule for hostesses – an email will be
sent around to sign up to work.

distributed at the next (10/12/06) Business Meeting.

Meeting.

Nimmerfroh – they’ll be updating the entire group at the 10/12/06
Business Meeting.
New Business
 Julianne Hartung is co-chair of the Jane Klausman Scholarship – currently
there is no award given at the local level for this scholarship. The Board
agreed that there would be more of in incentive for students to participate
if there was a local award. Mary looked back on what was awarded on
other scholarships, which was $500.00 on each (excluding GED). The
Board will review this information and decide what to award on this
scholarship at the local level.

PRAYER FOR AUTUMN
Prayer for Autumn
Heavenly Father,
you not only made the stars of the heavens,
but you made the seasons of the earth.
In every autumn,
there are endings and beginnings.
There is an end of vacations,
and the beginning of school.
Cool green leaves fall from their branches,
and become dappled yellow, bright oranges and deep reds.
Help me, when things end that I wish had continued,
to see that in you, there are no real endings.
In you, there are only changes and new beginnings.
Give me the grace to know,
that even death itself is not the end,
but only a change from one beautiful thing into another.
Amen.
