If you are thinking of going somewhere not mentioned in the list above, please contact programme director Marco Bontje ASAP to discuss if your preferred destination is a good choice. We demand a programme at advanced master level which connects well to the content of Metropolitan Studies, with sufficient options for suitable electives, preferably in English but in case you are mastering other languages sufficiently we could discuss those too. We welcome your own initiative in this of course, if you would already have good contacts with academic institutes or if you have a specific destination for your master thesis research in mind. We strongly prefer however that you combine the master thesis research and the elective courses abroad at one destination and in one semester (the first semester of the second year). We recommend contacting Bureau Internationale Studentenzaken (BIS) first though! BIS has a much larger network of exchanges than we do. However, with each of the exchanges they offer, please check the conditions carefully, since several of their exchanges may in fact not be open to students of the Graduate School Social Sciences. Furthermore, the conditions mentioned above (advanced master level, connecting with Urban Studies content, sufficient lelectives, preferably in English) apply here too.
