(Season passes will only be available from the Moncrieff Theatre. All competitors will be notified once they are available)
A competitor’s season pass covers all sessions of the Festival with the exception of Group
Sessions. Competitors will require this if they wish to enter the auditorium. Alternatively a
session ticket needs to be purchased from the theatre. An adult season pass DOES NOT
include group sessions.

Payment of entries received via email MUST be received within one week of entries
being emailed but not after the closing date 12 February, 2010.

TIME LIMITS: Teachers please note – TIME LIMITS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!
Sections titled “any age” will be split if entry numbers justify.
SECTION SPONSORSHIPS: We are seeking section sponsorships. If you would like
to assist and have your name or business name acknowledged in our program, please
include your donation with your entry form. Cost per section is $10.00.
Bursary Night:
We will be reintroducing the Bursary. No nomination fee is
required for this. The adjudicator will pick 10 junior and 10 senior acts that she would
like to see again. i.e. she will chose the dancer and the routine they are to perform.
RULES GOVERNING THE FESTIVAL OF DANCE EISTEDDFOD
1.
Age of the competitor will be taken as at 31.12.09 and where this age is the subject of a protest, a
Birth Certificate may be requested.
2.
The Adjudicator’s decision will be final and no public protest or correspondence against such a
decision will be entered into. Any other protest must be lodged in writing within 30 minutes of the
cause of the protest arising and handed to the Secretary. This must be accompanied by a fee of $50
which will be forfeited if the protest is considered frivolous or proved wrong by the protest
committee.

Under no circumstances will a competitor be allowed to compete out of a section. Competitors
must dance in their own age section in age items. In the case of duos and trios, the age of the oldest
competitor will be taken. A competitor may appear twice in duo or trio sections with a different
partner (duo) and least one different member (trio). Group Sections are determined by the age of the
eldest competitor. Minimum number in groups to be four. Competitors are not permitted to appear
in more than two groups per section and an entire same group not to appear more than once in a
section.

Competitors participate in the Festival at their own risk. Properties such as sand, water,
powder, glass or electrical props are not permitted on stage.
5.
The same routine must not be performed more than once by a competitor during the Festival,
with the exception of Championship and Bursary performances.
6.
The committee reserves the right to cancel, combine or divide sections should the need arise
and to appoint a substitute Adjudicator if necessary.
7.
Competitors must compete in the order of the program except in extenuating circumstances
when arrangements may be made with the Committee.
8.
Communication with the Adjudicator, either by competitors, teachers or other interested parties
during the Festival is not permitted.
9.
The Eisteddfod is open to amateur only, being one whose principal source of income is not
derived of his or her talent in the particular class for which they may be entered. Studio Principals or
person holding full dance teaching qualifications are not eligible to compete.
10. Backstage marshals have the authority to remove unauthorized persons from the stage area.
This rule will be strictly enforced. It is requested that props be placed on and off stage in the shortest
possible time and removed from backstage area immediately after use. There will be no rehearsing
permitted on stage during the Festival.
11. National Solo in all sections to be read as excluding Highland and Irish Dance. Solo items in
Cabaret or Novelty sections to exclude tap. Slow Modern to be read as Slow Modern, Neo-Classical
or Slow Jazz. Up-tempo sections not to include Hip Hop. A simple prop may be used if incorporated
in the routine for Slow Modern and Up-Tempo Modern sections.
12. The front stage curtain will only be used for Championships and Groups when necessary.
13. Video taping and/or photography will not be permitted in the Auditorium, however, the
Committee reserves the right to appoint an official videographer and photographer.

CHAMPIONSHIPS
JUNIOR * INTERMEDIATE * SENIOR
Dancers do not nominate for Championships. The top 5 dancers scores from classical, modern and tap
genres are invited to dance in the championships. Dancers will pay the nominated entry fee of $10.00
BEFORE they dance in the Championships. Junior, Intermediate and Senior Championships will be held
in every genre. The dancer can then repeat a dance already performed or dance a completely different
routine in the Championships.
Classical Championship – classical solo, demi character, national and impro – 3 of these sections must be
entered for consideration.
Modern Championship – up tempo, slow modern, contemporary, hip hop and impro – 3 of these sections
must be entered for consideration.
Tap Championship – tap solo, waltz tap, speed tap, impro – 3 of these sections must be entered for
consideration.
Some Championships and Bursary will be held as a “gala” type evening on the Saturday night of
the eisteddfod.
