RESOLUTION
BY COUNCIL MEMBER MCDOW
Whereas, nearly 150,000 people are eligible for Earned Income Tax Credits in the City of
Yonkers, yet only 33,000 took advantage of them last year,
Whereas, the EITC could represent a major reduction in taxes or increased refund for
many low and moderate income families in the city of Yonkers, and
Whereas, if a family is eligible for the EITC going back to 1999, they can still file for it
this year and acquire any retroactive refunds that they are eligible for.
Now therefore be it resolved that the Yonkers City Council urges Yonkers residents to
investigate and determine if they are eligible for the Earned income Tax Credit and file
for it as soon as possible.
