New Design file Using the Base Workplane, draw a Rectangle & dimension to 200 X 50 File > Save > Dovetail Single Draw a Line 12 from one end Draw two Lines > one 10 from each side; the other 7 from each side > Toggle Construction each line 7 10 6. Draw a line to represent the Dovetail slope at each side 7. Remove extra lines 8. Extrude to 12 > Below Workplane > OK 9. Save 10. File > Save Copy As > Dovetail 700X400 11. Close Dovetail Single Dovetail 700X400: 1. 2. 3. 4. Open the file Dovetail 700X400 Change the length Dimension from 200 to 350 Select the end Face without the Dovetail Feature > Modify Solids > Mirror Solids > OK 5. Feature > Modify Solids > Mirror Solids > OK It is now 700X100 7. Repeat 5 & 6 until the Side is 700X400 & has 8 Dovetails 8. New Design File Using the Base Workplane, draw a Rectangle 50 X 12. Dimension. Extrude to 200 > Below Workplane Right Mouse Click (RMC) the Base Workplane > New Sketch > rename Socket 5. From each side, draw a line > Toogle Construction. Dimension to 7 6. Repeat #5, but Dimension to 10. Draw the “Dovetail” Lines. Draw these Lines to complete the Socket extrusion figure 7. Complete the Socket Extrusion figure. 8. Extrude > 12 > Below the Workplane > Subtract the Material > OK 9. File > Save > Socket Single 10. Open file Socket 500 X 400 2. Features > RMC > Extrusion 1 > Redefine > Change the Extrusion length to 250 > OK 3. Select the end Face without the Dovetail Socket 4. Feature > Modify Solids > Mirror Solids > OK 5. Select one of the long Faces 6. Feature > Modify Solids > Mirror Solids > OK 7. Repeat 5 & 6 until the Side is 500X400 & has 8 Dovetail Sockets 8.
