Amazing Animals
Scavenger Hunt

Introduction
You may have seen trees, insects, and mammals near your home. You
may also have seen grass, flowers, worms, and birds. All these things
get what they need to live from their environment, or everything
around them.
In this scavenger hunt, you will research and learn about one type of
animal and its environment. You will describe how it survives in
regards to food, living conditions & family life. At the end of your
research, you will put together a diorama that showing the normal
living conditions of your animal.
The Task
Here is a list of what you need to do in order to accomplish this
assignment:



Take a book out from the library of an animal you want to learn
more about and read it. Write down notes on what you learned
about this animal. You may use a graphic organizer for help;
Using the internet resources available, search for additional
facts of your animal & print them out;
Bring in a shoe box & material you think feel will work with
your diorama;
If using other web sites not listed on this scavenger hunt, please let
your teacher see it before using any information from them. Some
web sites on not legitimate sites and contain false information.
The Process
1. You and a partner will choose one animal to research.
2. Each of you will bring in a book about the animal and gather
internet research facts using the web sites in the resource
section of this scavenger hunt.
3. Each of you will be responsible for turning in the completed
Amazing Animal Worksheet provided.
4. Decide who will bring in a shoe box and who will get the
materials.
5. Over the next few days, your homework assignment will be
gathering information on your animal. Make sure to take good
notes. You may use a graphic organizer.
6. Each of you will be responsible for writing a one paragraph
summary (4-5 sentences) about the living conditions of your
animal’s habitat.
7. Finally, during class, you and your partner will construct a
diorama emphasizing the normal living conditions of your
animal. Use whatever material you feel will give make the
habitat realistic as possible. Most importantly, be creative!

Preparedness (all material was brought to class on assigned

Well written summarization paper
Creative diorama & fits the habitat of chosen animal
Overall presentation of project
Conclusion
Congratulations, you and your partner have been officially labeled
“Animal Experts”! You have learned about different food chains &
webs, animals and their environment, and the many different amazing
creatures our planet has. Good job!!
