The student should go to the above Jefferson Lab web site and take a minimum of ten, forty question Chemistry
SOL practice tests prior to the May SOL Test Date. Each student needs to complete a minimum of 10 practice
tests and print the final page with the results and his/her name on it.
The tests can be found at the following web site: http://education.jlab.org/solquiz/index.html
At this site follow these steps:
1. Check 40 questions
2. Check Chemistry
3. Click “More Options”
At this stage you will have six additional options as follows:
1. “All Chemistry Strands”
2. Scientific Investigation
3. Nomenclature, Chemical formulas and Reactions
4. Phases of Matter & Kinetic Molecular Theory
5. Atomic Structure and Periodic Trends
6. Molar Relationships
After you have made your selection, you click on the “Next Options page, Please”. At this page you make sure
the “Random Order” button is selected, then click on the “I’m Ready, Let’s Start!” button.
Each student should complete and print the PROOF OF RESULTS of the following:
1. at least FIVE 40 question practice test for category 1 (All Strands) and
2. at least ONE practice test for EACH category, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6, above. That is a total of at least FIVE
practice tests from these INDIVIDUAL STRAND categories.
Each student will complete a total of at least TEN Practice SOL tests. At this site follow these steps:
1. Check 40 questions
2. Check Chemistry
3. Click "More Options"
At this stage you will have six additional options as follows:
1. "All Chemistry Strands"
2. Scientific Investigation
3. Nomenclature, Chemical formulas and Reactions
4. Phases of Matter & Kinetic Molecular Theory
5. Atomic Structure and Periodic Trends
6. Molar Relationships
After you have made your selection, you click on the "Next Options page, Please". At this page you make sure
the "Random Order" button is selected, then click on the "I'm Ready, Let's Start!" button.
When you finish, go to the bottom of the "Results for YOUR NAME" page. Highlight, copy and paste to MS
Word from "You answered # questions out of correctly ..."# to the bottom of the page. You should have one of
these pasted messages with "Recovery Code" for each SOL EXAM you have completed. You can visit this site
throughout the year to practice and watch our your score steadily improves throught the course of the year.
Students will receive points equal to the percentage score divided by 100 for each test completed. (For
instance, if a student scored 89%, then he would receive 8.9 points for that test.)
Students may complete more than 10 tests, but there must be at least five “All Strands” tests and at least
one test from each of the INDIVIDUAL categories. The total maximum number of points is 120.
The completed sheet must be signed by both student and parent.Attach the completed Practice SOL Summary
Sheet (the reverse side of this page) to the top all printed test results.
