AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL CELEBRATION 2014
Bridging our past with our present, the African American Cultural Celebration (AACC) serves as
a traditional rite of passage that recognizes and affirms students of African descent who have
completed a rigorous journey through academia at the University of Southern California. This
largely attended and highly anticipated event unites students, families, and friends through
culture and achievement. An outstanding speaker is chosen each year who insights words of
wisdom, encouragement and adoration to the audience allowing all participants to evaluate their
life experiences while empowering them to reach all future endeavors.
This year’s ceremony will be held on May 15, 2014 the Thursday evening before the
University’s Commencement, honoring all undergraduate, graduate and professional school
students.
This event is for any USC student that is graduating anytime in 2014!!!
AACC 2014 REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Starting Monday, October 21, 2013 you will have the opportunity to register to participate in the
African American Cultural Celebration 2014.



ALL participants are required to register for the celebration
Registration means that you will ONLY participate in the AACC 2014 Ceremony
Registration to participate in the AACC 2014 Ceremony is FREE
AACC 2014 OPTIONAL PACKAGE
Registered graduates have the option to purchase the AACC 2014 Package beginning October
21, 2013. Each registered graduating student who purchases the AACC 2014 Package will
receive the following:

(3) Tickets for the graduating student and two guests to attend the AACC 2014
Recognition Dinner on Wednesday, May 14, 2014
(8) Reserved Guest tickets to the AACC 2014 Ceremony on Thursday, May 15,
2014
o REMEMBER: Graduating students who have registered for the AACC 2014
Ceremony DO NOT need to purchase a ticket for themselves
(1) AACC 2014 Souvenir Book & the opportunity to have your photo taken and
included in the Souvenir Book with the graduating class
(1) Specially designed USC Class of 2014 Kente Sash
(1) AACC 2014 Ceremony DVD
(1) Guest ticket to the AACC 2014 After Party on Friday, May 16, 2014 (location to
be determined) Graduating students are FREE.

AACC 2014 PAYMENT SCHEDULE DEADLINES
PAYMENTS MADE BETWEEN:
October 21, 2013 through December 31, 2013=$120.00
PAYMENTS MADE BETWEEN:
January 1, 2014 through February 28, 2014=$140.00
PAYMENTS MADE BETWEEN:
March 1, 2014 through March 31, 2014=$150.00
Please note that the longer you wait to purchase a package, the higher the cost. The LAST
DAY to pay for the AACC 2014 Package is March 31, 2014!!! After that date, all package
items will be sold individually beginning on April 1, 2014
ALL PAYMENTS MUST BE MADE ONLINE, NO CASH OR PERSONAL CHECKS WILL
BE ACCEPTED. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
AACC 2014 SOUVENIR AD BOOK INFORMATION
Want to give a shout-out to your graduating friend? Do your parents want to give a shout-out to
express how proud they are of you? Does your organization want to commend a student leader
for a job well done? If so, submit an ad in the AACC 2013 Souvenir Ad Book that will be
distributed at the Recognition Dinner.
Payments for the Ad Book will begin Monday, October 21, 2013 and all ads must be
received by March 10, 2014. There are no exceptions due to time constraints to print the ad
book. Please submit your payment and ad information on time! More information will follow.

YEARBOOK PHOTOS:
If you are indeed graduating this academic year, we want to make certain you are included in the
2014 edition of USC's El Rodeo yearbook.
To accommodate your busy schedule, we have arranged extended appointment times including
evening hours and some Saturdays and a few Sundays. Please sign up NOW for your portrait
appointment, which is easy, free of cost, and takes only about 10 minutes.

The Grad Fair is your one-stop event to purchase commencement-related items and ask
questions. Vendor tables will be set up where students will be able to do everything from
ordering caps and gowns to buying announcements and class rings. Graduating students
are encouraged to attend!!!
AACC 2014 SOUVENIR BOOK PHOTO SHOOT: February & March 2014. Please stay
tuned for actual dates. All photos will be taken at the Center for Black Cultural and Student
Affairs (CBCSA), Student Union 415. Stay tuned for the photo shoot schedule.


Each graduating student will have the opportunity to have his or her photo taken for the
AACC 2014 Souvenir Book. The souvenir book will be available at the AACC 2014
Recognition Dinner Reception on May 14, 2014.

MANDATORY REHEARSAL @ BOVARD: Monday, May 12, 2014 @ 5:00-7:00 pm
All students who plan to participate in the 2014 Celebration MUST attend. Graduates, who
purchased AACC 2014 Package, will receive their reserved tickets & Kente sash at the
mandatory rehearsal.
AACC 2014 RECOGNITION DINNER: Wednesday, May 14, 2014, 7:00pm – 9:30pm,
Ronald Tutor Center, Ballroom

The Recognition Dinner is included for those graduates who purchased the AACC 2014
Package.
AACC 2014 CEREMONY: Thursday, May 15, 2014 8:00pm – 10:00pm @ Bovard Auditorium


All participants need to arrive by 6:45 pm to prepare for the line up and take precelebration photos.
The ceremony will start promptly at 8pm.
