Firstly, this is done by directly connecting an RJ45 (Etherent) cable between the modem and a laptop.
Connect the Ethernet cable into any of the 4 Ethernet ports (seen in yellow) and connect the other end of the cable to your computer as shown below.
If the connection has been successful one of the led's numbered 1-4 will emit a solid green light.
Type 192.168.1.1 into your Windows Internet Explorer address bar as shown below. (Not into a web browser such as Google, Firefox or Chrome.)
The following screen – or quite similar will appear.
Your SSID and password are located on a sticker underneath your modem. Your SSID will be in the format UPCxxxxxx and your password will be 8 capital letters long. As you can see in the image below:
(Random SSID and Password shown.)
If you cannot locate the sticker, your SSID and password will be in your welcome guide or starter pack. You can also connect your computer directly to the modem with an Ethernet(RJ45) cable to access the modem settings and get your SSID and password from there.
To do this follow the setps below associated with your modem type. (See my earlier document.)
1. Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of Windows Explorer in order to logon to the modem page.
2. Type in your username and password into the relevant fields.
3. Click on Setup tab at the top, here you will find the SSID (Network Name) and Password (Pre-Shared Key) . You can change these settings here.
4. Click on Save Settings after changing SSID and/or Password for new settings to be applied.
