William “Matt” Holden 4200 Hwy 93 Helena, Al 35080 MHolden.RN@gmail.com 205.616.6969 March 25, 2013 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my interest in obtaining a position in your prestigious nurse anesthesia program. I have been fortunate to gain a wide variety of experiences throughout my time as a student in the BSN program at Auburn University and during the past two years as a staff RN in the HTICU at UAB Hospital. My 3,400+ hours as a staff nurse in critical care include invasive hemodynamic monitoring with extensive use of vasopressors, sedation and paralytics, mechanical ventilation, maintaining ventricular assist devices, care of pre and post-op heart and lung transplants. These experiences have given me a strong foundation to rely on. I approach every patient with the same compassion and care that I would want for my family and myself. I believe that nursing should be holistic and that the best care is more than just administering medications. The anesthesia process is fascinating and I believe that a patient can be greatly impacted during the moments prior to anesthesia. Through my years at UAB Hospital, I have developed strong communication skills which have proven to be invaluable. Along with communication, I have also grown in my leadership skills as well as my ability to follow when the time is right. I value the importance of a good work ethic and teamwork. I believe that I would be a great fit in your program. Most importantly, I am confident that my growth as a nurse and student will continue with every new challenge I face. I am very interested in beginning my graduate career in your program and I look forward to discussing this matter with you personally. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Matt Holden
