Lindsey Letourneau Christine Courneyer Lizzie Lydon Introduction Our group project is based on the growth of plants involving the use of different soil mixtures and wetting agents. The purpose of our experiment was to determine what kind of soil and other plant mixtures allow the plant to grow the best. We set up five pots with different soil mixtures and a back up pot for each one. In the first two pots we used the soilite potting mixture. In the third and fourth pots we put regular potting soil. In the next two pots we made our own mixture without a wetting agent made of vermiculite, perlite, limestone, and sphagnum moss. In the seventh and eighth pot we mixed regular potting soil with a diaper wetting agent. In the last two pots we put in Pro-Mix. We put four seeds in each pot and we watered them on the weekdays when we are in school. We also measure the growth about every other day. We hope to come to a conclusion of what soil mixture will help the plant grow best.
