The Team Manager Injury Prevention position is a role within Workforce Health and Safety and is accountable to the Manager Workforce Health and Safety for: providing leadership, management, direction, and advice to senior management and the team of health and safety professionals and specialists. further developing and implementing the DFC Occupational Health, Safety, Welfare & Injury Management (OHSW&IM) Policy Framework and the integration of Injury Prevention (IP) systems across DFC. leading initiatives to establish the department as a model employer in the achievement of the Workcover Performance standards. PRIMARY OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Injury Prevention Services Leadership & Management Operational Management Organisational Contribution RELATED TASKS Provide client focussed strategic leadership in the development and implementation of Injury Prevention initiatives, policies and practices that contribute to the achievement of the WorkCover Performance Standards for Self-insurers, legislative compliance and best practice models of service delivery. Lead and manage effective monitoring and continuous improvement processes of the DFC Occupational Health Safety & Welfare (OHS&W) systems and programs. Lead, initiate and establish corporate projects, strategies, policies and business processes to achieve the outcomes of the strategic plan, the DFC OHSW&IM Implementation Plan and the WHS Unit Business Plan. Lead and initiate strategies to improve treatment to mitigate risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing. Assist managers to identify, assess and control OHS&W hazards and risks effectively through an integrated risk management approach. Lead departmental and government reform initiatives to provide effective and responsive health safety and wellbeing programs. Provide strategic leadership in scoping, designing, implementing, managing risks and evaluating Injury Prevention projects to meet DFC operational and strategic needs. Provide effective leadership and management to the Injury Prevention Team, by modelling and maintaining professionalism and a commitment to a client focused service delivery and ethical practice. Work collaboratively with the Team Leader Systems Development & Compliance. Provide strategic advice and leadership to staff and managers in the management of Health and Safety and Welfare matters in accordance with the Legislation and Government policy. Develop and maintain effective strategic partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders. Manage business planning for the Injury Preventions Team in collaboration with Manager Workforce Health & Safety, and provide purposeful leadership in WHS strategic planning within the Unit, Organisational Development Division and across DFC. Develop and implement effective communication and consultation processes within WHS Unit and across all of DFC. Establish and implement a coordinated OHS&W policy and procedures framework, including monitoring, review and policy establishment, to achieve consistency with government directions and across the organisation. Monitor incident, claims and other relevant data to ascertain strategic prevention responses Improve injury prevention activities including occupational injury and illness, and in particular psychological health, manual tasks and, slips, trips and falls. Prepare ministerial responses, portfolio and corporate reports, cabinet submissions and research papers. Deliver presentations to staff and external organisations and represent the department at nominated government forums. Appropriately manage resources and risks within budget allocations. Provide a safe and healthy workplace for team/unit and identify and act on potential workplace hazards as well as identifying and implementing procedures to manage and minimise risks within the DFC. Promote the principles of a sustainable working environment through the education of staff at a personal and organisational level. Model ethical behaviour and practices consistent with SA Government Code of Conduct for Public Sector Employees and DFC stated values. Support the department’s greening initiatives. Page 2 5.
