Students may earn credit for English 101 through earning a grade of 4 or 5 on the AP English Exam. In this case, the
student may take ENG 102 in the fall semester of freshman year.
2
Students majoring in Finance must take at least one course in Calculus (MAT 119, MAT 155, or MAT 161). For those
students who are placed into MAT 155 Fundamentals of Calculus or MAT 161 Calculus I, either of these courses will fulfill
their Math Beauty requirement. They can then take MAT 156 or MAT 162 to satisfy the ILC-math requirement. Other
students will take one of the other designated Math Beauty courses and then they will take MAT 119 Applied Business
Calculus as their ILC-math course.
3
DSS 100 MS Excel competency is to be demonstrated in the fall semester of freshman year. Competency to the
satisfaction of the DSS Chair is required of all HSB majors.
4
Please see the Finance section of the online catalog for courses that are available to meet the ILC requirement.
5
To satisfy this requirement the student may take either one-credit laboratory course or two 3-credit non-laboratory
courses. If choosing the 2 semester option, the second course replaces an elective.
Additional notes:
 In selecting courses, students will be required to identify courses that meet the overlay requirements in the areas of
1. Diversity, Globalization or Non-Western Area Studies; 2. Ethics Intensive; and 3. Writing Intensive. Many of the
courses already in your schedule may cover these areas.
 In freshman year, First Year Seminar and MGT 110/120 can be taken either semester.
 In junior year, the Philosophy and Theology courses can be taken either semester
 In senior year, the Fine Arts/Literature, Natural Science, and Integrated Learning 3 courses can be taken either
semester.
